ABC to Keep "Mistresses" for a Third Season

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- ABC has commissioned a third season of its summer drama "Mistresses," the network has confirmed.

13 new episodes will roll out next summer. The show's sophomore run averaged 3.71 million viewers, on par with its freshman cycle (3.80 million).

Rina Mimoun, Douglas Rae, Grant Scharbo, Robert M. Sertner and K.J. Steinberg are the executive producers for ABC Studios.

[UPDATED! 9:27 PM] Co-star Alyssa Milano posted to her web site that she won't be returning to the series:

"After two wonderful seasons in Los Angeles, the studio has decided to shoot season three of Mistresses in Vancouver, Canada for financial reasons. It's with a heavy heart that I have decided that I can't relocate. I have two babies under 4. Being a mother and wife comes first and I just can not uproot my children and separate the family by moving away. I will miss this job desperately and wish everyone the absolute best."
