VETERAN TSN HOCKEY INSIDER BOB MCKENZIE JOINS NBC SPORTS GROUP

TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger Will Also Contribute to NBC Sports Group's NHL Coverage

Both McKenzie & Dreger Will Continue With TSN in Canada

STAMFORD, Conn. - Oct. 8, 2014 - Bob McKenzie, the longtime TSN Hockey Insider with more than 35 years of reporting experience, is joining NBC Sports Group's NHL coverage. The announcement was made today by Sam Flood, Executive Producer, NBC Sports & NBCSN. Flood also announced that TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger will join NBC Sports Group's NHL coverage as a contributor. Both McKenzie and Dreger will continue in their respective roles for TSN in Canada.

McKenzie, generally regarded as the industry's top Hockey Insider, will appear regularly across NBC and NBCSN throughout the NHL regular season and Stanley Cup Playoffs. He will be an in-studio contributor to NBCSN's Wednesday Night Rivalry telecasts, beginning tonight, and will provide on-site commentary at NHL All-Star Weekend, the Stanley Cup Final, and NHL Draft. Dreger will serve in a similar role, but less frequently.

"Bob's and Darren's work at TSN speaks for itself. They are two of the best-connected and most-informed reporters in hockey. They instantly make our show better," said Flood. "Their collective presence elevates our hockey newsgathering capacity to an unprecedented level, with the viewer being the beneficiary."

McKenzie, who made appearances via satellite on NBCSN last season, comes to NBC Sports Group with extensive NHL reporting experience in television and print media. McKenzie has spent more than 25 years as the top hockey analyst for TSN in Canada, where he appears regularly on the network's hockey studio coverage, and writes the Hockey Insider column on TSN.ca, Canada's leading sports website.

"Already working with the best hockey broadcasting team in Canada at TSN, I am thrilled and honored to be able to join the best team in hockey in the United States," said McKenzie. "I look forward to my expanded role at NBC and NBCSN, and to be an in-studio regular."

McKenzie has been named to Sports Illustrated's The Twitter 100, featuring the 100 most influential tweeters in the sports world, and has been named to The Hockey News' 100 People of Power and Influence on an annual basis. His Twitter following of almost 800,000 is unrivaled in hockey media and makes him the most-followed media personality in Canada.

Prior to joining TSN, McKenzie served as the editor-in-chief of The Hockey News for nine years, and was a columnist for The Toronto Star for six years. For more on Bob McKenzie, click here.

Dreger joins NBC Sports Group with a reputation as one of the most trusted broadcasters in hockey. As a TSN Hockey Insider, Dreger takes viewers inside the game with world-class reporting on trades, rumors, and all the latest news from around the league.

"I'm excited to join Bob and NBC Sports to connect with the most passionate hockey fans in the U.S.," said Dreger. "It's a privilege to be a part of the top hockey broadcast teams on both sides of the border."

Dreger is also one of the most followed media personalities in Canada on Twitter, with more than 500,000 followers. For more on Darren Dreger, click here.
