LIFETIME ORDERS "THE WOMEN OF THE BIBLE" FROM ROMA DOWNEY AND MARK BURNETT

Downey to Narrate Two-Hour Special Leading Into December 7 World Premiere of THE RED TENT

LOS ANGELES, CA (October 29, 2014) - Lifetime has ordered the two-hour special The Women of The Bible from producers Roma Downey and Mark Burnett (The Bible, Son of God). Narrated by Downey and retelling stories from The Bible, the special will feature interviews with high-profile women in the faith community. The Women of The Bible will air on Sunday, December 7, at 7:00pm ET/PT, leading into the world premiere of Lifetime's miniseries event, The Red Tent.

The Women of The Bible provides a fresh look at the sacred text from the perspective of its heroines. Revealing little known facts about some of the most impactful women in biblical history, the special will share the stories of Eve, Sara, Rehab, Mary Magdalene and Mother Mary, with new insights from some of today's leaders and scholars in the faith community, including Christine Caine; Priscilla Shirer, Co-Founder of Going Beyond Ministries; Victoria Osteen, Co-Pastor of Lakewood Church; Eva Rodriguez of the Latino Evangelical Women's Association; Kay Warren, Co-Founder of Saddleback Church; and Joyce Meyer, Bible teacher and New York Times bestselling author, among others.

Regarding the announcement, Rob Sharenow, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Lifetime, said, "The Bible is an inspiring source of some of the most timeless stories known today and what lies within it are important narratives about the women who play a vital role in faith. There's no one better than Mark Burnett and Roma Downey to create this special, which is the perfect complement to Lifetime's miniseries event, The Red Tent."

"Women have obviously played such an important role in biblical history and Mark and I are excited to shine a light on these individual stories through the eyes of some of today's most incredible women of faith," said Executive Producer Roma Downey.

The Women of The Bible will be produced by Burnett and Downey's Lightworkers Media, the faith and family division of United Artists Media Group (UAMG). They will also executive produce the special. UAMG retains certain rights to The Women of The Bible, including video and international distribution rights, which will be distributed by MGM.
