DISCOVERY LIFE CHANNEL GREENLIGHTS FIRST ORIGINAL SERIES: "THOSE GIRLS" (wt) PROFILES A GROUP OF TRANSGENDER FRIENDS IN KANSAS CITY

--Discovery Life Channel to Debut on January 15, 2015 on the Current Discovery Fit & Health Platform --

(Silver Spring, Md.) - As its first original commission, Discovery Life Channel commenced production on the docu-series, THOSE GIRLS (wt). Produced by the newly launched Conveyor Media, THOSE GIRLS is a documentary series that offers an authentic look at a group of transgender friends living in Kansas City, Mo. The series will premiere on Discovery Life Channel in March, 2015.

With an in-depth look at the daily lives of these real women, THOSE GIRLS is the first television series to embed with a close knit group of friends in the transgender community and profile who they really are. The series follows four pairs couples and friends: best friends Kassidy and Chloe, navigating the challenges of transitioning together; couple Tanya and Jaime, who have moved back into Jaime's parents' house while handling child-related issues with Tanya's ex-wife; married couple Macy and Sharon, facing relationship hurdles since Macy's recent transition, but still very much in love; and Robyn and Andrew, previously best friends before Robyn's transition and are now romantically involved. While their gender identity remains a touch point in each storyline, THOSE GIRLS focuses more on capturing the essence of these courageous women as they overcome all of the obstacles before them and live their lives with bravery, fun, strength, and humor.

"THOSE GIRLS embodies what Discovery Life Channel is meant to be - a place for people from all walks of life to have their stories told without a filter, and I am thrilled that this is the first series we're announcing as our own," said Jane Latman, general manager of Discovery Life Channel. "No manufacturing, no scripts, no concocted storylines, THOSE GIRLS is an inspiring, surprising, and entertaining look at an amazing group of women who just happen to be transgender."

THOSE GIRLS (wt) is being produced for Discovery Life Channel by Conveyor Media. For Conveyor Media, Jay James, Colin Whelan, Teri Rogers, Matt Antrim and Eric Streit are executive producers, and Caroline Gibbs, head of The Transgender Institute, is a co-executive producer. For Discovery Life Channel, Julie Meisner Eagle is vice president of production, Jane Latman is general manager, and Henry Schleiff is Group President.
