SCIENCE CHANNEL GREENLIGHTS SERIES DEDICATED TO THE AMERICAN ENTREPRENEUR IN "ALL-AMERICAN MAKERS"

--Series Devoted to the "All-American" Entrepreneur Set to Premiere in January 2015 -

--Series Expands Upon Discovery Communications' Comprehensive Efforts Aimed at Inspiring Interest in STEM Subjects and Careers--

(Silver Spring, Md.) - Science Channel announced, as part of today's White House National Medals for Science and Technology Innovation Ceremony, the greenlight of ALL-AMERICAN MAKERS, the new original series that gives American backyard engineers turned burgeoning entrepreneurs the chance of a lifetime. Each episode, in this six-part venture, gives four amateur makers the opportunity to present their homegrown products to a panel comprised of an esteemed engineer, entrepreneur and a business mogul. Viewers will then get to see each maker's product put through a series of brutal tests and subjected to scrutiny by the public in live-or-die focus groups. American's most talented entrepreneurs lay it all on the line and the team may invest in all of them - or none. ALL-AMERICAN MAKERS is set to premiere on Science Channel in January 2015.

"Science Channel wants to tap into the uniquely American 'maker movement' and the engineering spirit that is inherent in our viewers." says Rita Mullin, General Manager of Science Channel. "ALL-AMERICAN MAKERS will provide a path towards success to anyone with the curiosity to create a product the public wants."

The show, which also marked the fifth anniversary of President Obama's Educate to Innovate campaign, will feature four amateur inventors each week, eager for an opportunity to take their product to market. Judged by two master makers, Brook Drumm and Brian Roe, and business magnate Marc Portney, each inventor's product is shown to consumers, broken down and examined to test their mettle and ultimate marketability. From dog toys and grill gadgets to personal robots and hybrid recreational vehicles, these products will span the everyday to the amazing. It will be up to this team of savvy experts to decide if any of the inventions merit financial investment.

"ALL-AMERICAN MAKERS is a high-stakes show that offers information, entertainment, and engaging characters that only comes around so often," says CEO of Bray Entertainment, Chris Bray. "It's an exciting process to see these experts do what they do, and I think the audience will really enjoy it."

ALL-AMERICAN MAKERS builds on Discovery Communications' deep and sustained commitment across its brands to promoting student interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Discovery Communications' efforts to advance student achievement in STEM include the creation of a commercial free kids block on Science Channel hosted by Kari Byron and featuring STEM related content; creating and disseminating Discovery Education STEM Camp, a series of standards-aligned STEM curricula available at no cost for after-school and other learning opportunities; creating a multi-year Science Channel Manufacturing Day partnership to promote jobs in the sciences as they relate to manufacturing; and supporting premier, national student science competitions including the Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge and the Siemens Competition in Math, Science, and Technology. Additionally, Discovery recently signed on as national media partner to US2020, an organization with the mission of matching 1 million STEM mentors with students at youth-serving nonprofits by the year 2020.

ALL-AMERICAN MAKERS is produced for Science Channel by Rita Mullin, General Manager of the network and Bernadette McDaid, Vice President of Production for Science Channel with Joshua C. Berkley, Executive Producer, and Lindsey Foster Blumberg, Producer for Science Channel. ALL-AMERICAN MAKERS is produced by Bray Entertainment; Chris Bray is the CEO.
