Science Channel Greenlights Series Dedicated to the American Entrepreneur in "All-American Makers"

(Silver Spring, Md.) - Science Channel announced, as part of today's White House National Medals for Science and Technology Innovation Ceremony, the greenlight of ALL-AMERICAN MAKERS, the new original series that gives American backyard engineers turned burgeoning entrepreneurs the chance of a lifetime. Each episode, in this six-part venture, gives four amateur makers the opportunity to present their homegrown products to a panel comprised of an esteemed engineer, entrepreneur and a business mogul. Viewers will then get to see each maker's product put through a series of brutal tests and subjected to scrutiny by the public in live-or-die focus groups. American's most talented entrepreneurs lay it all on the line and the team may invest in all of them - or none. ALL-AMERICAN MAKERS is set to premiere on Science Channel in January 2015.

The show, which also marked the fifth anniversary of President Obama's Educate to Innovate campaign, will feature four amateur inventors each week, eager for an opportunity to take their product to market. Judged by two master makers, Brook Drumm and Brian Roe, and business magnate Marc Portney, each inventor's product is shown to consumers, broken down and examined to test their mettle and ultimate marketability. From dog toys and grill gadgets to personal robots and hybrid recreational vehicles, these products will span the everyday to the amazing. It will be up to this team of savvy experts to decide if any of the inventions merit financial investment.
