BREED (TNT; W: John Scott Shepherd; D: Scott Winant) - Shaun Majumder ("The Firm") has snagged a role on the pilot, a supernatural drama centering on a volatile race of creatures who are committing brutal murders in the Pacific Northwest, and the reluctant FBI investigator who pairs with a female assassin to track them. He'll play Teddy, "Cooper's (Justin Chatwin) new partner at the Tacoma Police Department. Their relationship takes a sharp turn when Cooper realizes that Teddy is hiding an unnerving secret." Aisha Hinds, Nadia Hilker and Amber Clayton also star. (Deadline.com)

FANTASY LIFE (FOX/20th; W: Tim McAuliffe; D: TBA) - Vanessa Williams has been cast in the Kevin Connolly-led comedy pilot, about Mitch, a hard-working guy who lands his ultimate dream job hosting a fantasy football show where he's forced to navigate office politics while becoming the star he never thought he could be. She'll play Terry, "the bold, pragmatic, unapologetically caustic and apologetically compassionate SVP of Programming at a major sports network, and Mitch's (Connolly) new boss." (Deadline.com)

GAME OF SILENCE (NBC/Sony; W: David Hudgins; D: Niels Arden Oplev) - David Lyons ("Revolution") has scored the lead role on the drama pilot, about a rising attorney on the brink of success who could lose his perfectly crafted life when his long lost childhood friends threaten to expose a dark secret from their violent past. He'll play said fellow, Jackson. (Deadline.com)

GRINDER, THE (FOX/20th; W: Andrew Mogel & Jarrad Paul; D: Jake Kasdan) - Rob Lowe ("Parks & Recreation") has signed on for the lead role on the single-camera comedy, about "beloved TV lawyer Dean Sanderson who, when his long-running hit series comes to an end, finds himself at a crossroads in life and decides to move back to his small hometown thinking he has the experience to take over his family's law firm where he butts heads with his brother." His casting has triggered a pilot order from the network with Jake Kasdan directing and executive producing alongside Lowe, Mogel, Paul and Nick Stoller for 20th Century Fox Television. (Deadline.com)

PEOPLE ARE TALKING (NBC/Universal; W: D.J. Nash; D: Pamela Fryman) - Bresha Webb has been cast in the multi-camera comedy pilot, about a white and a black couple and examines sex, race and everything else your parents told you never to talk about. She'll play Angie, who "is practical and good at what she does, which includes handling her stand-up comedian husband, Russell (Tone Bell)." (Deadline.com)

STUDIO CITY (FOX/WBT; W: Krista Vernoff; D: Sanaa Hamri) - Eric McCormack ("Perception") is the first to be cast in the drama pilot, about a young singer's path to stardom, as she comes of age living with her songwriter father - who turns out to be a drug dealer to the stars. He'll play said father, Rob Evans, who's detailed as "proudly out of shape, Dionysian, warm, optimistic, and likable despite the narcissism." (Deadline.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - USA has passed on its drama pilot "Stanistan" starring Jennifer Carpenter and Jonathan Cake (Deadline.com); David Frankel and Ben Karlin have signed onto ABC's comedy pilot "The King of 7B" as director and showrunner, respectively (Deadline.com); Mark Pellington will direct and executive produce the NBC drama pilot "Blindspot" while Matt Shakman will helm the debut installment of the Peacock's "Heroes Reborn" (Deadline.com); Nathan Owens has joined the cast of "Devious Maids" as Jesse, "a handsome military vet who returns stateside to settle back into civilian life" (Deadline.com);
