SPIKE TV PARTNERS WITH LEGENDARY PICTURES TO DEVELOP ORIGINAL SCRIPTED SERIES, "EMERGENCY BROADCAST"

New York, NY, March 3, 2015 - Spike TV has partnered with Legendary Pictures to develop an original scripted series, "Emergency Broadcast," that features a group of government first responders who confront the planet's most fantastic crises and disasters. Based on an original idea by Thomas Tull, Chairman and CEO of Legendary, the project reteams Legendary with longtime collaborator Max Brooks, the best-selling and critically-acclaimed author ("World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War," "Zombie Survival Guide"), who serves as a consultant on the project.

"Emergency Broadcast" is a format-breaking series about everyday heroes who tirelessly work together to combat national and global catastrophes. With expertise in the fields of diplomacy and military intelligence - they face daunting hazards, including everything from apocalyptic meteor showers to alien invasions. Consulting the most preeminent crises leaders in the country, the creators of "Emergency Broadcast" aim to a give a more realistic, never-before-seen take on how America would actually contend with such extraordinary encounters.

Sharon Levy, Executive Vice President, Original Series, Spike TV, Ted Gold, Senior Vice President, Scripted Original Series, and Justin Lacob, Vice President, Original Series, will oversee the project.

Spike TV will premiere its first scripted event series in eight years, "Tut," this summer. The network recently announced script options for "The Crusaders" from Pierce Brosnan's Irish DreamTime, Sennet Entertainment, Michael Finch and Academy Award(R)-winning writer David Franzoni; "Deep Web" from Flying Studio Pictures, the production partnership of the world renowned actor and critically-acclaimed, award-winning filmmaking team Gary Oldman and producer Douglas Urbanski along with producer/director/writer Tony Krantz of Flame Ventures; "The Chairman," based on the Stephen Frey best-seller; "Red Mars" from Vince Gerardis, Co-Executive Producer of HBO's "Game of Thrones," based on Kim Stanley Robinson's "Mars Trilogy;" and "War at the Shore" based on Richard D. "Skip" Bronson's book.
