MADIBA (BET, New!) - Kevin Hooks is set to helm a six-part mini-series at the cable channel about the life of South Africa's first Black president Nelson Mandela. Blue Ice Pictures, Left Bank Pictures and Out of Africa Entertainment are all behind the project, with Mark Levenstein, Lance Samuels, Daniel Iron, Steven Silver, Neil Tabatznik, Andy Harries, Marigo Kehoe, Loretha Jones and Mandela's grandson, Kweku Mandela, among the executive producers. The mini-series is based on two of Mandela's books, "Conversations with Myself" and "Nelson Mandela by Himself." (THR.com)
AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Hisham Tawfiq's Dembe Zuma will be upped to series regular on season three of "The Blacklist" (Deadline.com); Zachary Levi took to Twitter with a photo from NBC's "Heroes" revival featuring his co-stars Judi Shekoni, Henry Zebrowski, Robbie Kay, Ryan Guzman, Toru Uchikado, Jack Coleman and Kiki Sukezane (@ZacharyLevi); and Steve Guttenberg will visit "The Mysteries of Laura" as himself, whom Laura uses to gain access to the Tribeca Film Festival "so as to track down a pivotal clue in her murder investigation" (TVLine.com).
