Radio Disney to Celebrate Two Youth Leaders with Heroes For Change Award

Rachel Platten to Perform Her Single "Fight Song" in Special Telecast, Sunday, April 26 on Disney Channel

Jennifer Lopez, a Radio Disney Top 30 charter with her Def Jam single "Feel The Light" from the animated feature film "Home," will be honored with the Hero Award at the 2015 Radio Disney Music Awards (RDMA), in recognition of her fervent and unceasing philanthropic efforts in the U.S. and around the world. Additionally, Columbia Records singer/songwriter Rachel Platten will perform her single "Fight Song" as the RDMA Heroes for Change award is presented to two Radio Disney listeners: Sloan Peterson of Los Angeles, and Maryah Sullivan of Orlando, in recognition of their efforts to make a difference in their communities. The RDMAs, music's biggest event for families, will take place SATURDAY, APRIL 25 at Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles. The awards show will be presented Sunday, April 26 on Disney Channel and in the months to come, on Disney Channels around the world. Highlights will also be available on Radio Disney, the Radio Disney App, the WATCH Disney Channel app and RadioDisney.com.

An actress, recording artist, producer, fashion designer, author, entrepreneur and humanitarian, Lopez's passion and commitment to making a difference in the world is also highlighted through her work with children via The Lopez Family Foundation, a not-for-profit organization she founded with her sister, Lynda, to improve the health and well-being of women and children around the world through health education and increasing the quality of medical care available to them. The organization, in partnership with Children's Hospital Los Angeles, opened its first telemedicine center in Puerto Rico in 2010 and seven new centers in Panama since. The foundation also recently opened the Center for a Healthy Childhood in the Bronx, New York, in partnership with the Montefiore Medical Center, which aims to promote healthy eating, exercise and improve outcomes and access to care for women, children, and families. Additionally, Lopez has a longstanding and supportive relationship with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. As a young teen, Lopez was an early member of the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club's Performing Arts Program where she honed her performance skills. She now serves as a National Spokesperson for the organization alongside Denzel Washington.

Maryah Sullivan, age 19, of Orlando, Florida, was nominated by Boys & Girls Clubs of America and is that organization's 2014-15 National Youth of the Year. She is a dedicated community servant in Central Florida and volunteers at the Ronald McDonald house and a local nursing home.

Ten year-old Sloan Peterson, Los Angeles, California, was nominated by Free The Children for establishing a chapter at her school where she has led several fundraising and volunteering efforts for both local and global issues she is passionate about, including access to clean water. Her actions earned a ticket to the youth empowerment and educational event We Day.

The 2015 Radio Disney Music Awards (RDMA), music's biggest event for families, will be hosted by teen icon Zendaya, SATURDAY, APRIL 25 at Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles. The show will feature performances by Nick Jonas, Becky G and R5, among others, as well as the presentation of the uniquely Radio Disney "ARDY" statuette winners, as voted on by fans globally.
