Spike Announces New Projects to Its Ever-Growing Scripted Slate for the Network's Broadening Audience
These include series about an Occupied American heartland during World War III, a family living in a world without privacy, the Gilded Age pioneers of criminal defense law, and medical researchers pushing the boundaries of ethics and legality.

SPIKE ANNOUNCES NEW PROJECTS TO ITS EVER-GROWING SCRIPTED SLATE FOR THE NETWORK'S BROADENING AUDIENCE

New York, NY, July 14, 2015 - Spike has partnered with some of the most creative minds in Hollywood to bolster its ever growing slate of scripted projects that aim to further the network's mission to broaden its audience with big and bold original series.

The scripted drama projects span a wide range of genres and periods, all of it character driven material set in unique, compelling worlds. These include series about an Occupied American heartland during World War III, a family living in a world without privacy, the Gilded Age pioneers of criminal defense law, and medical researchers pushing the boundaries of ethics and legality.

Spike's aggressive approach has yielded projects from major studio players, as well as independents. It is also developing several projects in-house.

BAD MEDICINE: This psychological horror series centers on a man in pain who is miraculously cured by a brilliant but unconventional doctor who specializes in clinical trials. The man goes all out to help this doctor find more breakthrough cures, only to realize that there are deadly consequences to the work the doctor does. Aaron Mendelsohn serves as writer, Nick Hamm as Executive Producer and Momentum TV as producers.

HUMMEL & HOWE: Set in the late 19th century Gilded Age in New York City, this series showcases the wild cases and lives of William Howe and Abraham Hummel - two criminals desperate to escape their past who become the greatest criminal defense attorneys in American history. "Hummel & Howe" is written by Andy Bellin, and produced by Scott Aversano and Tom Gormican of Additional Dialogue and Endemol Shine Studios.

MR. IN BETWEEN: Based on a short story by acclaimed novelist Walter Mosley, this series focuses on a high-stakes courier who traffics sensitive information between people for whom privacy is a matter of life and death. Diane Houslin and Walter Mosley serve as producers.

SECRET AMERICA: Set in the near future, this series explores a society where the threat of terrorism has turned the US government into an autocratic state. The show will chronicle the lives of one family as they fight for survival in a world where everyone is watched and no one can be fully trusted, and where patriotism is demanded, not earned. Alcon Television group President, Sharon Hall serves as Executive Producer, Josh Goldin and Rachel Abramowitz as writers and Jaume Collet-Serra as director. Alcon Entertainment co-founders and co-CEO's Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson also serve as Executive Producers on this series.

WORLD WAR III: As the world's geopolitical balance shifts and the next global conflict explodes, America's Heartland will become Occupied Territory. One man with a troubled past will galvanize a Resistance movement, calling upon ordinary citizens to become the extraordinary heroes of WWIII. Series is produced by Benay Bros. and Bad Hat Harry. Series is Executive Produced by Bryan Singer and written by creators Aaron & Matthew Benay.

Spike TV is set to premiere its first scripted event series in eight years, "Tut," starring Sir Ben Kingsley and Avan Jogia, on July 19. In addition to the above slate, Spike TV recently announced script options for "When The Levee Breaks," from acclaimed film screenwriter Kurt Wimmer; "Harvest," from film/television producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Warner Horizon Television; "The Crusaders" from Pierce Brosnan's Irish DreamTime, Sennet Entertainment, Michael Finch and Academy Award(R)-winning writer David Franzoni; "Deep Web" with producer/director/writer Tony Krantz of Flame Ventures; "The Chairman," based on the Stephen Frey best-seller; "Red Mars" from Vince Gerardis, Co-Executive Producer of HBO's "Game of Thrones," based on Kim Stanley Robinson's "Mars Trilogy;" "Emergency Broadcast" from Legendary Pictures and Thomas Tull; and "War at the Shore" based on Richard D. "Skip" Bronson's book.
