DEUCE, THE (HBO; W: David Simon & George Pelecanos; D: Michelle MacLaren) - James Franco ("11/22/63") is set to star in the drama pilot, which chronicles the legalization and subsequent rise of the porn industry in New York's Times Square from the early 1970s through the mid-1980s. Michelle MacLaren ("Breaking Bad") has also signed on to helm the project, with Franco playing "twin brothers who were players in the Times Square world and became fronts for Mob control of the volatile and lucrative sex industry from its origins." Simon, Pelecanos, MacLaren, Franco, Nina K. Noble and Richard Price are the executive producers for Blown Deadline Productions with Marc Henry Johnson producing. Filming is set to begin this October in New York City. (Deadline.com)

GUILT (ABC Family; W: Kathryn Price & Nichole Millard; D: TBA) - Billy Zane, Daisy Head, Zachary Fall, Katrina Law and Kevin Ryan have all been tapped for roles on the drama pilot, an edgy, soapy thriller that revolves around an American in London who becomes the prime suspect in the savage murder of her roommate. Head will play said girl, Grace; with Zane as Stan Gutterie, "an American defense attorney working in London"; Fall as Luc, "Grace's boyfriend in London"; Law as Olivia, "Grace's older sister"; and Ryan as Patrick, "Molly's older brother." Dorman will play the aforementioned John; with Munroe as Alice, "John's wife and an elementary school teacher who is forced to hold down the fort when her husband is away for long periods of time"; and Smith as Mr. Claret, "a character who has an adversarial relationship with John." Glenn Ficarra and John Requa also serve as executive producers with Steve Conrad directing from his own script. (Deadline.com, THR.com)

The project is described as "a detailed examination of partisanship and the influence of money on national governance" in the present-day world of Capitol Hill. Ed Burns, William F. Zorzi and Nina K. Noble are also on board to executive produce via Simon's Blown Deadline Productions. (Deadline.com)
