GENES (CBS, New!) - Rick Eid ("Hostages") is back in business with the Eye for a medical soap about "a brilliant doctor who saves his dying patient's life using a miraculous gene therapy - infused with his own DNA - only to realize the side effects have turned her into a dangerous sociopath. Making things more complicated, the doctor begins to fall madly in love with her." Said effort, which has a put pilot commitment, is based on an unproduced screenplay by the late Michael Crichton. Laurent Bouzereau and Crichton's widow Sherri Crichton will executive produce alongside Eid for Warner Bros. Television. (Deadline.com)

HOME (TNT/WHT; W: Aron Eli Coleite; D: Brad Anderson) - Bethany Joy Lenz, Bruce Greenwood, Benito Martinez, Nicole Muñoz and Roberta Colindrez will round out the cast of the pilot, a dramatic thriller that delves into the secrets lingering behind the facade of a seemingly idyllic suburban family. Lenz will play Rose Bell, "an accomplished designer with a successful business"; with Greenwood as Leonard, "a charismatic, brilliant behavioral psychiatrist working in an unnerving field to discover the cause of and cure for sociopathy"; Martinez as Peter Ochoa, "a former uniformed cop who doesn't believe in rehabilitation and parole"; Muñoz as Danica, "a latch-key girl next door who instigates a love triangle when she falls for both her new neighbors, PK (Harris Dickinson) and Nate (Sawyer Barth) Bell"; and Colindrez as Cassie, "Rose's best friend and business partner, a contractor who brings Rose's design to life." JoBeth Williams also stars. (Deadline.com)

IN HARM'S WAY (NGC, New!) - Kevin Bacon is attached to star in a potential mini-series at the cable channel which "tells the story of the Navy cruiser that was sunk in the Pacific by Japanese submarines in July 1945 after delivering uranium and other components for an atomic bomb to a U.S. base near the Philippines. The 900-plus survivors, many of them injured, spent five days struggling to survive on life rafts, battling shark attacks and exposure to the elements. Only 317 survived by the time rescuers arrived." Paul Scheuring is penning the script based on the novel by Doug Stanton. ABC Signature-based The Mark Gordon Company is behind the project with Scheuring, Bacon, Gordon, Nick Pepper and David Schiff executive producing. (Variety.com)

SNOWFALL (FX/FXP; W: Eric Amadio & John Singleton; D: John Singleton) - Andrea Bogart is the latest addition to the pilot, a one-hour drama set against the infancy of the crack cocaine epidemic and its ultimate radical impact on the culture as we know it. The story follows three characters on a violent collision course: Franklin Saint (Damson Idris), young street entrepreneur on a quest for power; Gustavo Zapata (Sergio Peris-Mencheta), a Mexican wrestler turned gangster in search of his American dream; and Logan Miller (Billy Magnussen), a prominent family's "black sheep" desperate to escape his father's shadow. She's set as Mrs. Volpe. (Deadline.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - NBC has shelved its potential limited series "The 1970s" over concerns "the project might have had turned out to be too expensive" (Deadline.com); Christopher Miller and Phil Lord have optioned the TV rights to Sarah Koenig and Julie Snyder's podcast phenomenon "Serial" (Deadline.com); Michelle Page will recur on "Bosch" as Harmony, "an exotic dancer" (Deadline.com); Peter Gadiot has joined the cast of USA's upcoming "Queen of the South" as James Valdez, "a member of Camila's (Veronica Falcon) crime organization who has an in-depth and realistic understanding of how the narco world works" (THR.com);

Enrico Colantoni and Michael Madsen are both bound for PSN's "Powers" (Playstation.com); Robert Aramayo is the latest to land a top-secret role on "Game of Thrones" (Deadline.com); Adam Rodriguez will recur on "Jane the Virgin" as "Jane's very critical writing professor who does not believe in coddling students" as well as direct episode 12 of "Scorpion's" sophomore season (THR.com); Sherri Saum will guest on "How to Get Away with Murder" in a yet-to-be-revealed role (TVLine.com); and Robert Knepper has signed onto Showtime's "Twin Peaks" revival as in a role being kept under wraps (Variety.com).
