Intrigue's Tariq Jalil remains on board the single-camera project, which has a significant penalty attached. The new Sony Pictures Television-based take will follow "a young small-town mayor named Emma Wolf has dysfunctional siblings, a dying father, disgruntled citizens, a nearly bankrupt town and the mafia breathing down her neck. Alexander will play the aforementioned Kayla Hayes, "a 17-year-old who restarts her life after being released from a mental health facility"; with Fumusa as George, "an enigmatic drifter that tracks down a former psychiatrist to confront past wrongs"; and Jaramillo as Carlos, "Margaret's (Jordana Spiro) husband, a recovered drug addict and popular teacher who connects with his troubled step-daughter Kayla in a way that others can't.
