Intrigue's Tariq Jalil remains on board the single-camera project, which has a significant penalty attached. The new Sony Pictures Television-based take will follow "a young small-town mayor named Emma Wolf has dysfunctional siblings, a dying father, disgruntled citizens, a nearly bankrupt town and the mafia breathing down her neck. Only a miracle can help her. So... she fakes one." Seth Gordon ("The Goldbergs") will likewise executive produce and direct schedule permitting. (Deadline.com)
DARK NET (TNT, New!) - Adam Mazer (Empire State) has sold a potential six-episode limited series to the cable channel "based on the true story of the illegal Silk Road website and its 29-year-old creator Ross Ulbricht who was recently sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole." Martin himself will executive produce the project alongside Vazquez, Vince Gerardis, Paul Sansone, Rich Angell, Mark B. Newbauer and Lizandro Cruz. (Deadline.com)
SYSTEM, THE (Starz, New!) - Jeff Benedict and Armen Keteyian's book is being developed as a potential drama at the pay channel. WILDING, THE (USA/UCP; W: Silka Luisa; D: Ciarán Foy) - Dominic Fumusa, Antonio Jaramillo and Nadia Alexander are the latest to be cast in the two-hour backdoor pilot, about a typical, loving blended family seeking a fresh start after their 17-year-old daughter, Kayla, is released from a mental health institution following ten years of treatment. Alexander will play the aforementioned Kayla Hayes, "a 17-year-old who restarts her life after being released from a mental health facility"; with Fumusa as George, "an enigmatic drifter that tracks down a former psychiatrist to confront past wrongs"; and Jaramillo as Carlos, "Margaret's (Jordana Spiro) husband, a recovered drug addict and popular teacher who connects with his troubled step-daughter Kayla in a way that others can't.
