THE SWEETEST COMPETITION RETURNS WITH NEW SEASON OF "CAKE WARS" ON FOOD NETWORK

New Season Premieres Monday, January 11th at 9pm ET/PT on Food Network

New York - December 2, 2015 - The sweetest competition returns to Food Network on Monday, January 11th at 9:00pm ET/PT with even more fantastic cake creations. Four bakers battle it out on Cake Wars to create the most mind-blowing cake to star at a special event and, for the icing on the cake, a chance to take home the grand prize of $10,000! Jonathan Bennett (Mean Girls) hosts this grueling competition, as the competing bakers' skills and imaginations are tested in two rounds of challenges, where they rush against the clock to design over-the-top cake confections. In each exhilarating episode, master pastry chefs Ron Ben-Israel (Halloween Baking Championship, Sweet Genius) and Waylynn Lucas (co-owner of Fonuts), as well as a special guest judge determine which contestant's extraordinary creation, based on taste and presentation, will take the cake to sweeten up a big soiree and be crowned the winner.

"After the sugar rush from the jaw-dropping creations on season one of Cake Wars and Cake Wars: Christmas, viewers wanted even more confectionary competition and eye-popping cake designs - and that's exactly what's in store this season!" said Bob Tuschman, General Manager and Senior Vice President of Food Network.

Over the course of the 13 thrilling episodes, bakers vie for the chance to display their cake creations at big events, navigating big challenges and special themed episodes such as Star Wars, Dr. Seuss, Kung Fu Panda 3, Minecraft, Shrek, Sesame Street, Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory, Archie, Alice in Wonderland, and many more!

Fans can visit FoodNetwork.com/CakeWars for show highlights, and check out the recipes of the winning cakes. They can also join the cake conversation on Twitter using #CakeWars.

Before his breakout role as Aaron Samuels in the hit movie, Mean Girls, Jonathan Bennett launched his career on the small screen. After getting his start starring in the Emmy award-winning series All My Children, Bennett appeared on Law & Order: SVU, Smallville, and Veronica Mars. In addition to his work on television, he has starred in many leading motion pictures including Lovewrecked, The Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning, Cheaper by the Dozen, and National Lampoon's Van Wilder: Freshman Year. He added executive producer to his resume with the films Authors Anonymous, Pawn, and Submerged, in which he also starred. Recently, he garnered national attention as a competitor on ABC's Dancing with the Stars, where he won "Fan Favorite." Additionally, he hosted MTV's Copycat and has recurring arcs on their scripted series Awkward and VH1's Hit The Floor. Bennett currently resides in Los Angeles.
