NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CHANNEL CELEBRATES 15 YEARS OF SCIENCE, ADVENTURE AND EXPLORATION

Beginning in January, Viewers Will Be Able to Engage with 15th Anniversary Programming Across Platforms, Including Social Media, Video on Demand and TV Everywhere

(Pasadena, CA - Jan. 6, 2016) Exactly 15 years ago this week, on January 7, 2001, National Geographic Channel (NGC) officially launched in the United States, bringing a legacy of breakthroughs and innovations, heart pounding adventures, bold conquests and extraordinary human feats to cable television. While the network continues to blaze an exciting path forward, it will also honor its extraordinary legacy with a yearlong 15th Anniversary celebration lasting throughout 2016.

When you are part of a brand with the legacy of National Geographic, celebrating great programming is not difficult to do. Beginning January 31, 2016 and lasting all year, "15 Years of National Geographic Channel" anniversary programming will be highlighted through NGC's social media, video on demand and TV Everywhere platforms including NatGeoTV.com as well as on iOS handsets and tablets, Android handsets, Apple TV, Roku, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Samsung Connected TVs. Select footage will also be available on Hulu. For more information, visit www.natgeotv.com and follow @NGC_PR on Twitter.

Across NGC's social media platforms (http://tvblogs.nationalgeographic.com, National Geographic Channel on Facebook @NatGeoChannel on Twitter, @NatGeoChannel on Instagram), NGC will also share 15 years of snapshots in the history of the network with photo galleries, videos, and timelines.

In addition, the Nat Geo TV blog, List App, and Snapchat will feature best-of lists and timelines including the top-ranked shows each year, greatest moments in Nat Geo Channel history, 15 Times Nat Geo Channel Blew Your Mind, and 15 Signs You're a Nat Geo Channel Addict. Look for other fun social media surprises in January, such as #ThrowbackThursday Facebook albums, engaging "Would Your Rather" polls, photos of NGC talent when they were "15," and other fun birthday entertainment.

NGC's 15th Anniversary programming lineup includes:

Killing Jesus

Marking the third installment of the Killing franchise, Killing Jesus charted the political and historical conflicts that led to the execution of one of history's most well-known figures.

The 2000s, End of Innocence

Revisit the key events of the 2000s through first-person interviews with the unexpected game changers, news makers, world leaders and entertainers.

Wicked Tuna, The Best Of Season Three Compilation

Wicked Tuna follows a group of salty fishermen from the nation's oldest seaport, Gloucester, Massachusetts, as they make their living the way it's been done for centuries - rod and reel fishing, one catch at a time - all in pursuit of the bluefin tuna. One "monstah" bluefin can be worth more than $20,000, and with that kind of money on the line, every captain is fighting to be the best in the fleet.

Killing Kennedy

Based on the best-selling book by Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard, Killing Kennedy begins in 1959, at major turning points for both the future president John F. Kennedy and his assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald.

Brain Games: Pay Attention

When it comes to mastering and manipulating attention, some of the world's leading experts aren't scientists; they're magicians like David Copperfield. While the brain's attention acts a bit like a spotlight to filter and make sense of a busy world, it can be easily controlled and deceived. Copperfield and a team of experts test, trick and fool using an elegant form of attention control.

Restrepo: Afghan Outpost

A stunning chronicle of a U.S. platoon in one of the most dangerous valleys in Afghanistan. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize for Documentary at Sundance.

Great Migrations: Born to Move

This epic seven-part mini-series was filmed over two and a half years, across 420,000 miles, in 20 countries and on all seven continents. Each episode captured the rare brilliance of multiple generations migrating together in perfect harmony.

On Board Air Force One

Journey inside the most secure aircraft in the world, Air Force One, as it carries the President through the confusion and terror of 9/11, a clandestine flight into Baghdad and a whirlwind diplomatic mission through the Middle East.

Gospel of Judas

Discovered by chance, sold twice, and stolen once, a document that lay hidden for nearly 1,700 years emerges from the sands of Egypt. Does it contain an authentic account or ancient heresy?

Inside 9/11: Zero Hour

Marking the anniversary of 9/11, NGC broadcasted the critically acclaimed four-hour mini-series event Inside 9/11. With meticulous attention to detail and firsthand storytelling, this series presented a comprehensive and compelling perspective on that tragic day, from the earliest roots of al Qaeda, to the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, and to the attacks of September 11.

Inside the Secret Service

With unparalleled access to one of the world's most protective and enigmatic government organizations, National Geographic takes you to a place few outsiders have been: inside the United States Secret Service.

Join us to celebrate this incredible moment in NGC history -- 15 years of familiar faces, historic moments, remarkable science, and awe-inspiring adventures. And the most amazing thing is that our adventure has only just begun.
