FIRST LADY MICHELLE OBAMA TO GET "REAL" ON EDUCATION

'The Real' Co-Hosts Adrienne Bailon, Tamar Braxton, Loni Love, Jeannie Mai and Tamera Mowry-Housley Traveled to Our Nation's Capital to Interview the First Lady Regarding the "Better Make Room" Campaign and Her "Reach Higher" Initiative

Episode Scheduled to Air Tuesday, January 26

Burbank, CA (January 21, 2016) - The five co-hosts of The Real - Adrienne Bailon, Tamar Braxton, Loni Love, Jeannie Mai and Tamera Mowry-Housley - traveled to Washington, D.C., this week to interview the First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama, about the "Better Make Room" movement. "Better Make Room" is a public awareness campaign designed to celebrate education and inspire students to "make room" for college or other post-high school educational and training programs. "Better Make Room" supports the First Lady's "Reach Higher" initiative, which is an effort to inspire every student in America to take charge of their future by continuing their education beyond high school.

The discussion with First Lady Michelle Obama was conducted in the East Room of the White House on Wednesday, January 20, and is scheduled to air on The Real on Tuesday, January 26 (please check local listings).

In addition to interviewing the First Lady, The Real co-hosts moderated a special Q&A with parents, students and Secretary of Education John King. Following the panel, The Real also sat down with Secretary King for a conversation that will be available exclusively on www.youtube.com/therealdaytime.

"We were honored and excited to bring our show to Washington, D.C., to interview First Lady Michelle Obama," said The Real Executive Producer Rachel Miskowiec. "The 'Better Make Room' campaign empowers students to pursue a 'better' tomorrow by taking charge of their future, which is exactly the kind of thing our hosts and viewers are passionate about."

Through "Better Make Room," Generation Z students (aged 14-19) can obtain information on signing up for the SAT and ACT, applying to college, pursuing financial aid and more. They can also connect with other students to share stories about their goals, their progress and what inspires them. "Better Make Room" and "Reach Higher" are both dedicated to helping the U.S. meet President Obama's goal of America once again having the highest proportion of college graduates in the world by 2020.

The First Lady also encourages students to investigate FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) as a simple and free way to partially finance higher education. For more information, please visit https://fafsa.ed.gov/.

About The Real

THE REAL is a one-hour, daily talk show hosted by the dynamic team of Adrienne Bailon, Tamar Braxton, Loni Love, Jeannie Mai and Tamera Mowry-Housley on Fox Television Stations and in national syndication (check local listings), with a rebroadcast on cable network BET. Led by five bold, diverse and outspoken hosts, these women reflect the home audience and unapologetically say what women are actually thinking. Their unique perspectives are brought to life through their candid conversations about topics ranging from their own personal lives to the news of the day to beauty, fashion and relationships. Unlike other talk shows, each of the five hosts is admittedly a "work in progress," and fearlessly invites the viewers into their lives. Their fresh points of view, youthful energy and passion have turned the traditional talk show on its head. Produced by Telepictures Productions and distributed by Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution, The Real originates from Los Angeles. Rachel Miskowiec (Good Morning America, Katie, The Tyra Banks Show, Judge Hatchett, The Ricki Lake Show) is executive producer.
