"Conviction," Original Series of 11 Episodes Reported Over The Last Two Years, Follows the Case of New York State Inmate Richard Rosario Who Claims He Was Wrongfully Convicted of Murder

Rosario Insists 13 Alibi Witnesses Can Place Him in a Different State When the Crime was Committed

NEW YORK - March 23, 2016 - Dateline NBC is launching its first-ever digital documentary series as Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark seeks to overturn the murder conviction for featured New York State inmate Richard Rosario, Dateline/NBCNews.com reports. "Conviction" was reported and filmed over a two-year period and delves into the case of Richard Rosario, convicted of a 1996 murder. Rosario, who has served 20 years of a 25-years-to-life-sentence, maintains his innocence. He Insists that 13 alibi witnesses can verify he was in Florida when the crime was committed in New York City.

Over this two-year period, Dateline interviewed most of Rosario's alibi witnesses. This week, the Bronx DA's office confirmed it sent investigators last week to interview the witnesses. Rosario is set to appear in a Bronx courtroom today, where prosecutors will ask for his immediate rerelease. Until now, the prosecution has stood by the conviction.
