SEBASTIAN MANISCALCO RETURNS TO SHOWTIME(R) FOR HIGHLY-ANTICIPATED THIRD COMEDY SPECIAL "WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?"

Stand-Up Comedy Event to Premiere This Summer on SHOWTIME

LOS ANGELES, CA - April 4, 2016 - Chicago-born-and-bred, Sebastian Maniscalco has tapped Manhattan's Beacon Theatre as the backdrop for his third SHOWTIME stand-up comedy event WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?, which will be filmed in front of a live audience on May 7th - one of the seven sold out shows at the theatre - to air on the network this summer on-air, online, on demand and over the internet. Directed by Joe Demaio, Maniscalco will deliver his unique brand of physical and quick-witted observational comedy in a new hour of highly anticipated skepticism, all while asking WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?

"Coming up in this business over the years has taught me to look for folks that are in it for the same reasons I am," said Maniscalco. "I knew we had found a great partner in SHOWTIME on my last special, and I am happy we are continuing that relationship. Through their platform, I've been able to expose my stand-up to a broader audience and am looking forward to continuing to ask the hard questions like WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT? when we return to the Beacon Theatre this summer."

The 2014 American Comedy Award nominee for Best Club Comedian, Maniscalco is one of comedy's fastest rising new stars. Born and raised in a working-class Chicago neighborhood, he moved to Los Angeles in 1998 to pursue his comedy career. There, he employed the work ethic his father instilled in him to build his name - simultaneously working as a waiter at the Four Seasons Hotel - and eventually drew the attention of actor Vince Vaughn, who cast him in Vince Vaughn's Wild West Comedy Show. The comedian's personal story will be the basis for a multi-camera NBC comedy, currently in development by writer Austen Earl and Greg Garcia and featuring television legend Tony Danza. Maniscalco also stars in his own wildly popular The Pete and Sebastian Show podcast every Friday night. He is also working on his first comedic memoir, Where You Wanna Eat?, for Gallery Books which combines his two biggest loves - food and comedy. Maniscalco can be seen in the current season of Jerry Seinfeld's Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee as well as in the upcoming feature films The House, starring Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler; Cruise, directed by Rob Siegel and produced by Jeremy Renner; and the animated feature Nut Job 2, opposite Jeff Dunham.

From Levity Productions, Sebastian Maniscalco's WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT? is executive produced by Judi Brown Marmel and Stu Schreiberg. For more information, please visit SHO.com, www.SebastianLive.com and follow @SebastianComedy on Twitter and Instagram.
