AMERICAN HEROES CHANNEL PARTNERS WITH THE HUFFINGTON POST TO PRESENT SECOND ANNUAL "RED BANDANNA HERO AWARD" IN MEMORY OF FALLEN 9/11 HERO WELLES REMY CROWTHER

-Along with the Welles Remy Crowther Charitable Trust, AHC and Huffington Post Kick Off National Competition-

-Nominations Accepted Until Wednesday, July 6 at www.ahctv.com/redbandanna-

(Silver Spring, Md.) - American Heroes Channel (AHC) and the Welles Remy Crowther Charitable Trust proudly announced a partnership with The Huffington Post to launch a nationwide search to find the winner of the second annual Red Bandanna Hero Award, honoring the ultimate, everyday hero who exemplifies the American spirit that defines us as a nation. The Huffington Post will serve as AHC's media partner in this year's contest, providing an unparalleled platform to spotlight the inspiring work of everyday heroes across the country. Beginning with a special kickoff message from Arianna Huffington, HuffPost will serve as the online home for the Red Bandanna Hero Award through hero profiles, editorial features, and exclusive video leading up to the October awards ceremony. Nominations for this year's winner will be accepted at www.ahctv.com/redbandanna.

The award is inspired by Welles Remy Crowther, also known as "The Man in the Red Bandanna" who, according to survivor accounts, saved as many as 12 people following the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Honoring Welles' intrepid actions on that fateful day, the Red Bandanna Hero Award is designed to highlight the brave, selfless individuals who put the needs of others first to make a difference. The winner of the 2016 Red Bandanna Hero Award will receive a $10,000 donation to the charitable organization of their choosing, as well as a trip for two to attend the awards ceremony at Boston College's Red Bandanna Football Game on Friday, October 7, 2016 versus Clemson at the university's stadium in Chestnut Hill. Boston College created the Red Bandanna Game in memory of Welles, a proud alum who played on the school's lacrosse team, sporting a red bandanna under his helmet in each game. AHC will also create a "Hero Moment" vignette about the winner, which will be aired on the network and shared online at ahctv.com.

"It is a true privilege that we, along with The Huffington Post and the Crowther family, can pay tribute to Welles' remarkable heroism and courage by presenting the 2016 Red Bandanna Hero Award," said Kevin Bennett, general manager and executive vice president, American Heroes Channel. "Heroes rarely refer to themselves as such, and we are so humbled to provide an opportunity to recognize those who go above and beyond for the greater good."

"We're proud to partner with AHC for the second annual Red Bandanna Hero Award, and to tap into The Huffington Post's impassioned community to help us identify and celebrate true heroism," said Arianna Huffington, Co-Founder and Editor-in-Chief of The Huffington Post. "Guided by the incredible stories of Welles Remy Crowther's repeated heroism on 9/11, we're looking to honor those who dedicate their lives to keeping us safe and to making our world a better place."

The winner of the 2015 Red Bandanna Hero Award was Minneapolis firefighter and founder of Firefighters for Healing, Jake LaFerriere. On July 3, 2010, Laferriere suffered third and fourth degree burns in a backdraft explosion while battling a house fire. While being treated at the hospital for his burns, LaFerriere met several young children in the burn unit, each undergoing painful treatments for their own burn injuries. Inspired by their resilience at such a young age, LaFerriere founded Firefighters for Healing, a non-profit organization whose mission is to support young burn survivors and their families in ways that insurance companies and caretakers are unable to.

Nominations for the 2016 Red Bandanna Hero Award are being accepted at www.ahctv.com/redbandanna through July 6. To learn more about the Red Bandanna Hero Award, Welles Crowther and Jake LaFerriere, please visit www.ahctv.com.
