JACK RYAN (Amazon/Paramount; W: Carlton Cuse & Graham Roland; D: TBA) - John Krasinski ("The Office") is set to star in the streaming service's proposed TV series based on Tom Clancy's popular CIA hero. Said effort "is not a direct adaptation of the books as were the first Jack Ryan movies but a new contemporary take on the character in his prime as a CIA analyst/operative using the novels as source material." Platinum Dunes' Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form;
Skydance Media's Mace Neufeld; and Carlton Cuse Productions' Lindsey Springer are along among the executive producers. (Deadline.com)
AND IN OTHER NEWS... - USA has passed on its two drama pilots "Brooklyn Animal Control" and "Poor Richard's Almanack" however the former will be redeveloped and the latter is expected to be shopped elsewhere (Deadline.com); co-creator Eli Jorne is departing FOX's upcoming comedy "Son of Zorn" "over creative differences," leaving Sally McKenna as the sole showrunner, however production on its 13-episode order won't be affected (Deadline.com); Kelly Macdonald will guest on Netflix's "Black Mirror" in an installment from director James Hawes while Dan Trachtenberg is also on board to helm an episode (Deadline.com); and Kristen Hager has been cast as Joan Kennedy in Reelz's mini-series "The Kennedys: After Camelot" (Deadline.com).
