RUSH, THE (E!, New!) - Ryan Tavlin (Counting Backwards) is developing a new drama at the cable channel which "centers on a poor but ambitious grad student in Los Angeles who finds an uncut brick of MDMA that he then sells to change his fortune. Consequently, he becomes inescapably enveloped by the world of excess in which he's thrust." One-Two Punch Productions' Deborah Spera and Maria Grasso also serve as executive producers for ITV Studios and Universal Cable Productions. (THR.com)
AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Charles Murray has signed onto FOX's "Star" as showrunner as part of a new overall deal with producer 20th Century Fox Television (Deadline.com); "Grey's Anatomy" co-stars Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson, James Pickens Jr., Justin Chambers, Sara Ramirez and Kevin McKidd are all negotiating new contracts with producer ABC Studios (THR.com); Natalie Morales has been tapped as a new anchor on "Access Hollywood" (Variety.com); and Vanessa Williams will recur on "The Librarians" as "the tough, brilliant head of the top secret, black ops secret government agency, known as D.O.S.A."
