SON, THE (AMC/AMCS; W: Brian McGreevy, Lee Shipman & Philipp Meyer; D: Tom Harper) - Carlos Bardem has joined the cast of the upcoming drama, a multi-generational epic telling of the story of America's birth as a superpower through the bloody rise and fall of one Texas family. He'll play "the patriarch whose family is the last of the wealthy Spanish aristocracy in South Texas. He is a proud American, but must walk a careful line between his fellow ranchers and the Mexican radicals who employ terrorist tactics in an effort to drive the Anglos out of the Rio Grande Valley." AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Jon Harmon Feldman is in talks to join ABC's "Designated Survivor" where he'll take over as showrunner from Amy B. Harris (Deadline.com); Sean Harris has pulled out of Starz's "American Gods" "for personal reasons" while director of photography Brendan Glavin has been replaced with Jo Willems (Deadline.com); Paul James's Sean Egan has been upped to series regular on Hulu's "The Path" (Deadline.com); Shaun Sipos has joined the cast of Syfy's "Dark Matter" as Devon, "a once world class surgeon, who is haunted by a dark past that may pose a danger to himself and his fellow crew members" (Deadline.com); "The Leftovers" co-stars Justin Theroux, Carrie Coon, Amy Brenneman, Christopher Eccleston, Liv Tyler, Margaret Qualley, Chris Zylka, Janel Moloney, Regina King, Kevin Carroll, Jovan Adepo, Jasmin Savoy-Brown and Scott Glenn will all return for the show's Australia-bound eight-episode final season while Ann Dowd won't be back as a series regular (TVLine.com); and Alan Rosenberg, Malcolm Gets, David Hewlett and Ian Reed Kessler are among the latest faces set to visit "Suits" this season while Neal McDonough, John Pyper-Ferguson, Patrick Fischler and Aloma Wright are all due back (THR.com).
