SANTA CLARITA DIET (Netflix; W: Victor Fresco; D: TBA) - Ricardo Chavira ("Desperate Housewives") has joined the cast of the single-camera comedy, in which Joel (Timothy Olyphant) and Sheila (Drew Barrymore) are husband and wife realtors leading vaguely discontented lives in the L.A. suburb of Santa Clarita, until Sheila goes through a dramatic change sending both their lives down a road of death and destruction...but in a good way. He's set as "their neighbor, a law-enforcement officer who loves his work." (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED CREGGER & KASHER PROJECT (Showtime, New!) - Actor/writers Moshe Kasher and Zach Cregger have sold a potential comedy to the pay channel about "a larcenous family of pot dealers whose world is turned upside down when their illegal enterprise suddenly becomes legal in their home state. As the family struggles to adapt to the strange new world of legitimate business, they are forced to depend upon the business acumen of their son, whose straight and narrow leanings have always made him a "black sheep" in this clan of reprobates." Joe and Anthony Russo (Captain America: Civil War) are also attached to executive produce the half-hour via their Getaway Productions banner with the company's Mike Larocca likewise producing. AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Seamus Dever is the latest "Castle" co-star to close a deal for a potential ninth season (Deadline.com); John Noble's Morland Holmes won't return as a series regular on "Elementary" next season (TVLine.com); and Jesse Eisenberg is spearheading a potential small screen take on his book "Bream Gives Me Hiccups," with Parker Posey, Victor Rasuk and newcomer Elliott Smith already attached to star in the self-funded project from Jax Media (THR.com).
