VH1 TO BRING BACK "HIP HOP HONORS" EVENT TO HONOR THE TRAILBLAZING FIRST LADIES OF HIP HOP MONDAY, JULY 11 AT 9PM ET LIVE FROM NY

NEW YORK, NY, May 23, 2016 - With hip hop dominating pop culture, VH1 today announced the triumphant return of "HIP HOP HONORS" to celebrate the trailblazing first ladies of hip hop. The show will pay homage to the female pioneers, trailblazers and trend-setters who lead a movement and infiltrated the ranks of the male-dominated genre to make their voices heard and still do today.

"VH1'S HIP HOP HONORS" will air Monday, July 11th at 9PM ET LIVE FROM NY.

Since its inception in 2004, "VH1'S HIP HOP HONORS" has recognized the luminaries who broke new ground and propelled the genre into the cultural phenomenon it has become. From Hip Hop's pioneers like Public Enemy and Tupac Shakur to Def Jam Records and Russell Simmons, VH1 has honored Hip Hop from its origins through the numerous phases of its musical evolution.
