NBC'S COMPETITION SERIES "STRONG" CROWNS FIRST WINNING TEAM - TRAINER BENNIE WYLIE AND TRAINEE JILL MAY

The Popular Texas Coach and the Minnesota Mom of Four Became the Unstoppable Duo Surging Past Their Competitors to Earn the STRONG Title and a Grand Prize of $300,000

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - June 2, 2016 - NBC's high-energy competition series "STRONG" crowned its first winning team Thursday, June 2 as Texas-based strength and conditioning coach Bennie Wylie and Minnesota mom Jill May won the final "Tower" competition to take home the title of STRONG and the winning prize of $300,000.

"Blue Team," Wylie and May, performed well consistently throughout the 10-epsiode series, besting nine other teams in the rigorous physical competitions.

The 39-year-old Wylie is a strength and condition coach based in Abilene, Texas who has trained some of the best athletes in the world. He has held positions with the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Tech University and the University of Tennessee. He is currently a private strength and conditioning coach. Wylie brought his years of experience and discipline to the show, successfully coaching May to the win.

May, a 35-year-old mother of four from Willmar, Minnesota, had been physically active in college but had gotten out of shape over the years. Upon entering the competition, May weighed in at 167.4lbs with 31 percent body fat. Through her work on the series with Wylie, May gained 24lbs of muscle and lost an overall of 23lbs, weighing 144.6lbs with 12 percent body fat at the end of the competition.

Wylie and May will be featured doing the "STRONG" workout curriculum on "Daily Burn," an at-home streaming fitness program, starting Wednesday, June 8, 2016.

"STRONG" premiered on April 13, 2016 with ten teams of two embarking on a transformative journey. Professional volleyball player and fitness expert Gabrielle Reece hosted the 10-episode series, from executive producers Dave Broome ("The Biggest Loser"), Oscar-nominated iconic film star Sylvester Stallone, Kevin King Templeton ("Creed"), and Holly Wofford ("American Ninja Warrior").

Ten everyday women from all walks of life were paired with 10 elite fitness trainers from around the country. The contestants trained in pairs to conquer a series of challenges that pushed everyone to the limit.

"STRONG" is produced by 25/7 Productions in association with Sony Pictures Television.
