Amazon Original Series "Goliath" Casts Multi-Platinum Recording Artist Dwight Yoakam

Multi-platinum recording artist Dwight Yoakam has been cast in Amazon Original Series Goliath (formerly known as Trial). Yoakam will play Wendell Corey, who heads the giant aerospace company defended by powerful law firm Cooperman McBride, Borns Tech. Billy McBride, played by Billy Bob Thornton (Fargo), takes on both of these "goliath" businesses in season one. Goliath will premiere on Amazon Prime Video this fall.

Goliath stars Oscar winners Thornton and William Hurt (Broadcast News), along with Olivia Thirlby (Juno), Maria Bello (Prisoners) and Molly Parker (House of Cards). The series is written by David E. Kelley (Ally McBeal) and Jonathan Shapiro (The Practice); executive produced by Kelley, Shapiro and Ross Fineman (Lights Out) and Larry Trilling (Parenthood). Goliath stars Thornton, Hurt, Thirlby and Bello in the ultimate David vs. Goliath battle fought in the 21st century American legal system. The series follows a down-and-out lawyer (Thornton) as he seeks redemption. His one shot depends on getting justice in a legal system where truth has become a commodity, and the scales of justice have never been more heavily weighed toward the rich and powerful.

Yoakam is a 21-time nominated, multiple GRAMMY Award winner, and has sold more than 25 million albums worldwide, including 12 gold albums and 9 platinum or multi-platinum albums. Five of these albums topped Billboard's Country Albums chart, with another 14 landing in the Top 10. Yoakam recently took to the studio with Third Man Records' Jack White III to record a 7" release as a part of the label's Blue Series. Tracks include "Tomorrow's Gonna Be Another Day" (Boyce/Venet, popularized by The Monkees) backed with "High On The Mountain of Love" (Dorman, popularized by Kenny Lynch, then Johnny Rivers, then The Beach Boys). In addition to his musical career, Yoakam is a formidable film and television actor, having previously co-starred opposite Billy Bob Thornton in the award-winning film Slingblade. He has also appeared in TV series such as Under the Dome and Wilfred, as well as films including Panic Room, Crank, and The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, among others, where he has worked alongside Jodie Foster, Tommy Lee Jones, Jared Leto, Forest Whitaker, and Matthew McConaughey.

Goliath will be available for Prime members using the Amazon Video app for TVs, connected devices including Fire TV and mobile devices, or online at Amazon.com/originals. For a list of all Amazon Video compatible devices visit http://www.amazon.com/howtostream.
