AMERICAN CRIME (ABC) - Emmy-winner Regina King has signed on for the third season of the anthology series. She'll play "one of the complicated individuals caught up in a story that deals with labor issues, economic divides and individual rights in this season's setting of North Carolina." (Deadline.com)
BLACK-ISH (ABC) - Peter Mackenzie's Mr. Stevens has been promoted to series regular for the series' upcoming third season. (Deadline.com)
CHANNEL ZERO: CANDLE COVE (Syfy) - Paul Schneider, Fiona Shaw, Shaun Benson, Natalie Brown and Luisa D'Oliveira are set to topline the freshman run of the anthology series. Schneider stars as Mike Painter, "a child psychologist who was a child himself when he witnessed the mysterious disappearance of his twin brother, Eddie, and four other children from their small town, Iron Hill, in 1988. Decades later, he is compelled to return to his hometown to investigate what really happened all those years ago, only to find that it - whatever it was - may be happening all over again." Shaw then is set as Marla Painter, "Mike's mother and a widow"; with Benson as Gary Yolen, "Iron Hill's Sheriff and Mike's childhood friend;" Brown as Jessica Yolen, "Mike's childhood friend and the Sheriff's wife; and D'Oliveira as Amy Welch, "the tenacious Sheriff's Deputy." EMPIRE (FOX) - Xzibit (aka Alvin Joiner)'s Leslie "Shyne" Johnson has been upped to series regular come season three of the series. (TVLine.com)
GODLESS (Netflix) - Whitney Able and Samantha Soule are the latest additions to the limited period drama series. Able will play Anna McNue and Soule is Charlotte Temple, "described as a nervous and put-together woman always in her Sunday best." (Deadline.com)
SNEAKY PETE (Amazon) - Malcolm-Jamal Warner is slated to appear in at least three episodes of the upcoming drama as James Bagwell, "Pete's (Giovanni Ribisi) parole officer, who is described as clean, meticulous, mercurial and volatile." (Variety.com)
THIS IS US (NBC) - Directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa have signed a two-year overall deal with producer 20th Century Fox Television. Said duo, along with their Zaftig Films' partner Charlie Gogolak, will continue to series as executive producers on the upcoming NBC drama as well as develop new series projects for the studio. YOU'RE THE WORST (FXX) - Samira Wiley ("Orange Is the New Black") will appear in five episodes of the show's third season as Justina, "the therapist to star Aya Cash's Gretchen. The character will be featured prominently throughout the season as Justina helps Gretchen dip her toe into the waters of mental health, both in recovering from her recent depressive episode and dealing with new challenges. Justina has the unique ability to cut through Gretchen's layers of crap and remain (mostly) unflappable, even when Gretchen is at her worst. Though she's a great therapist, Justina isn't exactly a paradigm of mental health - she's very much trying to figure out her own life, including what to do about her unambitious boyfriend and thirsty need to Foursquare her every move."
