ESPN Remembers Legendary Coach Pat Summitt

ESPN joins the world in mourning the loss of legendary head coach Pat Summitt, who passed away early Tuesday morning. Paying tribute to Summitt's 38-year coaching career, ESPNU will air the film Nine for IX: Pat XO, Tennessee's SEC Tournament Championship wins from 2005-2011 and the 1998 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball National Championship title game. ESPN Classic will be the home of Tennessee's National Championship title games, where Summitt led the Lady Vols to national titles in 1996, 1997, 1998, 2007 and 2008. SportsCenter will continue to pay tribute to Summitt throughout the day, speaking with loved ones and those she inspired.

ESPN analyst Kara Lawson, who played for Summitt from 1999-2003 and currently serves as co-chair of The Pat Summitt Foundation, said "She was a life changer for me... I played for her for four years, but she coached me a lot longer than that." Her interview from ESPN's SportsCenter is available here.

ESPN's Vice President of Women's Sports Programming Carol Stiff, ESPN reporter Doris Burke, ESPN college basketball analyst Jay Bilas, Vanderbilt head coach and former ESPN analyst Carolyn Peck, espnW columnist Mechelle Voepel, former Tennessee standout Chamique Holdsclaw and former Tennessee quarterback Peyton Manning are among those who have shared their stories and thoughts in remembrance of the Hall of Fame coach.

SEC Network, the ESPN television network dedicated to Southeastern Conference sports, devoted the day's coverage to the Tennessee head coach emeritus. SEC Now coverage began at 9:30 a.m. ET and will continue until The Paul Finebaum Show begins at 2:30 p.m. Additional Summitt programming is planned for this evening.
