UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - July 20, 2016 - As TV and comic fans descend on San Diego tomorrow for Comic-Con International 2016 #SDCC, Universal Cable Productions (UCP) is unveiling an impressive slate of new development projects inspired by some of the world's most distinguished writers of graphic novels and science fiction including Neil Gaiman, Michael Reeves and Gerard Way. Furthering its strategy to develop programming that creates long-term assets for the studio, UCP will team with highly-respected auteurs including Jeremy Slater ("Fantastic Four," "The Exorcist"), Jeffrey Seller ("Hamilton") and producing partner Flody Suarez, among others.

UCP will adapt Neil Gaiman's and Michael Reeves' YA fantasy and science-fiction novel "Interworld," an adventurous tale of teenage dimension-walker Joey Harker and his quest to battle and save all people - in all possible dimensions. Everyone in the Interworld is a version of Joey, some only a little different, while others are different genders, different ages and even different species. What makes them all special is that they have the ability to "walk," or travel from dimension to dimension. This also makes them a target for the Hex and the Binary factions, who yearn to conquer more dimensions by using these "walkers" as fuel. Jeffrey Seller, producer of the smash Broadway musical "Hamilton" and his producing partner, former NBC executive Flody Suarez, will executive produce, along with Gaiman and Reeves.

Following up to its development announcement of Gerard Way's "The Umbrella Academy," a tale involving a dysfunctional family of superheroes with bizarre powers published by Dark Horse, UCP also announced today that Jeremy Slater ("Fantastic Four," "The Exorcist") is attached to adapt the iconic comic book series.

Other notable projects in UCP's development pipeline include:

"The Woods," a comic book written by James Tynion IV, art by Michael Dialynas and published by Boom! Studios. Michael Armbruster ("Beautiful Boy") is attached to write.

"Bushido," based on the Heroes and Villains/Top Cow Entertainment comic book series about a young Dutch boy who finds himself adopted by a high-ranking samurai. Roy Lee ("The Departed," "The Lego Movie"), John Powers Middleton ("Bates Motel," "The Lego Movie") and Adam Stone ("The Voices," "Sleepless") will executive produce and Markus Goerg, Dick Hillenbrand & Mikhail Nayfeld of Heroes and Villains Entertainment are co-executive producers; "The Good Neighbors," based on the graphic novel by Holly Black & Ted Naifeh and written by Barbara Marshall. Marshall, Jeremy Bell, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Jon Shestack will executive produce.

"UCP continues to expand our genre slate and collaborate with luminaries from the world of graphic novels and science fiction," said Dawn Olmstead, EVP Development, Universal Cable Productions. "We're proud and fortunate to be partnering with some of the most imaginative and talented auteurs in the business."

UCP will also have a presence at Comic-Con in collaboration with its network partners. Events, panels and screenings featuring Universal Cable Productions TV series include:
