ALTERED CARBON (Netflix) - Martha Higareda, James Purefoy, Dichen Lachman and Leonardo Nam are the latest additions to the upcoming drama. Higareda will play Kristin Ortega, "a smart and tough Lieutenant in the Bay City PD"; with Purefoy as Laurens Bancroft, "one of the superwealthy class known as Methuselahs, Bancroft is rich, influential, and over 500 years old"; Lachman as Reileen Kawahara, "Takeshi Kovacs' (Joel Kinnaman) older sister, they share a dark and violent childhood"; and Nam as Stronghold Kovacs, "the body Takeshi Kovacs was born into." BLACK FLAGS (HBO, New!) - Joby Warrick's Pulitzer-winning nonfiction book - which "tells the story of the rise of ISIS, from its origins in a remote Jordanian prison to its stunning success in Syria" - is being developed as a mini-series by the pay channel. Writer Gregg Hurwitz and director Tim Van Patten will spearhead the project as well as executive produce alongside Joint Effort's Bradley Cooper and Todd Phillips. (Deadline.com)
DC'S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW (The CW) - Matthew MacCaull ("iZombie") has been cast as Henry Heywood, Sr., a.k.a DC Comics character Commander Steel, on the series. (EW.com)
EMMIS (Amazon, New!) - Writer/director Etan Cohen is developing an American version of the hit Israeli TV family drama "Shtisel," "an intricate and authentic family drama that offers a rare glimpse into the insular world of the ultra-orthodox community." Okay Goodnight's Marta Kauffman and Robbie Tollin will presumably executive produce with Hannah K.S. Canter as a co-producer. (Deadline.com)
HOLLAND'S HOOP (A&E, New!) - Jim Taylor is looking to import Franky Ribbens and Dana Nechushtan's Dutch television series about "a burnt-out forensic psychiatrist who, on the day his estranged father dies, learns that his wife is cheating on him and his teenage son is a delinquent. In a desperate attempt to keep his family together, he drags them to his father's rural farm for the funeral. He quickly discovers that the farm is at the center of a vast criminal enterprise and that his family's salvation may depend on his ability to continue his father's legacy." Alexander Payne, Jim Burke, Miguel Arteta, Alon Aranya and Rob Golenberg also serve as executive producers for Scripted World, Endemol Shine Studios and A+E Studios. (Deadline.com)

MODERN FAMILY (ABC) - Nathan Fillion ("Castle") will recur on the upcoming season as "local weatherman Rainor Shine (as in rain or shine) who becomes involved with the Dunphy family." (Deadline.com)
PARANOID (Netflix, New!) - The streaming service will co-produce the upcoming ITV drama, billed as "a conspiracy mystery that centers around the murder of a female doctor in a rural children's playground in front of an abundance of eyewitnesses." Indira Varma, Robert Glenister, Neil Stuke, Lesley Sharp and Kevin Doyle co-star in the eight-episode series, from writer Bill Gallagher and fellow executive producer Nicola Shindler of RED Production Company with Mark Tonderai, Kenny Glennan and John Duthie directing. PITCH (FOX) - B.J. Britt ("UnREAL") is set to recur on the newcomer as Will, "Ginny's (Kylie Bunbury) older brother, who initially manages Ginny's career before she hits the majors and is very close with his sister. He's supportive and does his best to offer her good advice about her game and career." (THR.com)
SHADOWHUNTERS (Freeform) - Ed Decter has bowed out as showrunner of the series, which kicked off production on season two this week. (Deadline.com)
SUPERGIRL (The CW) - Katie McGrath ("Dracula") has joined the show's sophomore run as Lena Luthor. "Beautiful, powerful, and enigmatic, Lena arrives in National City on the heels of brother Lex's incarceration hoping for a fresh start. Lena has taken over as CEO of her family's billion-dollar-tech company, Luthor Corp, which has been tarnished by Lex's evil infamy. Her goal? To re-brand the empire as a force for good. WE ARE ALL COMPLETELY BESIDE OURSELVES (HBO, New!) - Natalie Portman is attached to star in and executive produce a new mini-series at the pay channel based on Karen Joy Fowler's award-winning novel of the same name. She'll play Rosemary Cooke, "whose complex and unusual upbringing is marred by the unexpected disappearance of a twin sister at the age of 5." Christopher Monger ("Temple Grandin") is penning the script while Gideon Raff, Okay Goodnight's Marta Kauffman and Robbie Tollin will also executive produce. Hannah K.S. Canter is a co-producer.
