HISTORY'S HIT DRAMA SERIES 'VIKINGS' RETURNS WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 30 AT 9PM ET/PT

SERIES MOVES TO NEW NIGHT AND TIME

New York, New York - September 14, 2016 - HISTORY's hit drama series "Vikings," filled with calamity, revenge and death, continues on Wednesday, November 30 at 9PM ET/PT. Led by Travis Fimmel (War Craft), the historical based drama moves to Wednesday nights for part two of season four.

After being defeated in a monumental battle in Paris against his brother Rollo (Clive Standen), Ragnar disappeared following his humiliating loss. "Vikings" then took an enormous leap forward during the midseason finale, time-jumping to a new era in its characters' lives.

In the midseason premiere, Ragnar's reappearance in Kattegat triggers a chain of events no one - except the Seer - could have ever imagined. He unexpectedly arrives home to see what has become of his sons and to handle unfinished business in Wessex with King Ecbert (Linus Roache). Meanwhile, Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) plans a power play in Kattegat and Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) prepares to fulfill his long-held dream to explore the Mediterranean in a sleek new boat built for him by Floki (Gustaf Skarsgrd).

"This season is monumental and unlike anything we've ever done," said Michael Hirst, creator and writer. "We've propelled 'Vikings' to the topmost level of historical drama as we follow storylines inspired by real life events such as Bjorn Ironside sailing through the Mediterranean and Ivar the Boneless becoming the most feared warrior of all time. It's not a story of one man, but a saga of Ragnar and his sons."

"Vikings" remains a top ten cable scripted drama (Live+SD) and within Live +7 delivery garnered 4.3 million total viewers, 2.1 million A25-54 and 1.8 million A18-49 during its season four ten week run in the spring.

Season five of "Vikings" is currently in production in Ireland as Golden Globe(R) Award winner Jonathan Rhys Myers (The Tudors) joins the cast.

"Vikings" is the critically acclaimed series from creator and sole writer Michael Hirst (Academy Award(R) winning film Elizabeth and the Emmy(R) and Golden Globe(R) nominated series "The Tudors") and is a family saga that tells the remarkable tales of the lives and epic adventures of the raiders and explorers of the Dark Ages.

Hirst serves as executive producer along with Morgan O'Sullivan of World 2000 (The Count of Monte Cristo; "The Tudors"), Sheila Hockin ("The Tudors," "The Borgias"), John Weber of Take 5 Productions ("The Tudors," "The Borgias"), Sherry Marsh, Alan Gasmer and James Flynn ("The Tudors," "The Borgias"). Jana Bennett and Arturo Interian are the executives in charge of production for HISTORY.

VIKINGS is an international Irish/Canadian co-production by World 2000 and Take 5 Productions. HISTORY broadcasts domestically in the U.S. MGM Television brought the series to the network and brings VIKINGS to the global audience, serving as the worldwide distributor outside of Ireland and Canada. VIKINGS is produced in association with Corus Entertainment, and the series also airs on HISTORY in Canada.
