Jodie Foster to Direct and Rosemarie DeWitt to Star in "Black Mirror" Season Four Episode

Jodie Foster will direct and Rosemarie DeWitt will star in an episode of the fourth season of the critically acclaimed anthology series, Black Mirror, slated to begin production later this year and premiere exclusively worldwide on Netflix in 2017.

Netflix greenlit twelve episodes of the critically acclaimed and award winning anthology series last year, commissioning House of Tomorrow to produce as a Netflix original series. Split into two seasons of six episodes each, House of Tomorrow's Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones continue to serve as executive producers and showrunners for the new episodes.

This announcement comes in advance of the anticipated third season of the series, which premieres globally only on Netflix on October 21st.

Created and written by Brooker, Black Mirror taps into our collective unease with the modern world and each stand-alone episode is a sharp, suspenseful tale exploring themes of contemporary techno-paranoia. Without questioning it, technology has transformed all aspects of our lives; in every home; on every desk; in every palm - a plasma screen; a monitor; a Smartphone - a Black Mirror reflecting our 21st Century existence back at us. The series has been recognized with an international Emmy Award, a Peabody Award, a Rose D'Or and been nominated for a Bafta(R) award.

Foster made her motion picture directorial debut in 1991 with the highly acclaimed Little Man Tate, in which she also starred. In 1995, Foster directed her second film, Home for the Holidays, which she also produced. In 2011 she directed The Beaver, which starred Mel Gibson, Jennifer Lawrence and Anton Yelchin and Foster. In 2015 Foster directed the thriller Money Monster which stars George Clooney, Julia Roberts and Jack O'Connell.

More recently, Foster made her television directorial debut. She directed episodes of two Netflix original series, Orange is the New Black and House of Cards. Foster received an Emmy Award Nomination and a Director's Guild Award Nomination for "Best Directing in a Comedy Series" for Orange is the New Black and a Director's Guild Award Nomination for "Best Directing in a Drama Series" for House of Cards. In addition to directing and producing, Foster is a two time Academy Award winning actress, who has appeared in more than 40 films.

DeWitt will next be seen in Damien Chazelle's musical romance La La Land with Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. She recently wrapped production on the indie-thriller Sweet Virginia, directed by Jamie Dagg and also starred in Amazon's period drama pilot The Last Tycoon. She was recently seen in Gil Kenan's remake of Poltergeist and Jason Reitman's Men, Women and Children. Other credits include Focus Features' Kill the Messenger opposite Jeremy Renner, Gus Van Sant's Promised Land, Your Sister's Keeper, opposite Emily Blunt and Mark Duplass, and Rachel Getting Married.
