ADVOCATE, THE (NBC, New!) - Alyson Feltes ("The Firm") is back in business with the Peacock for a new drama which "centers on an idealistic young former foster child who now works as a paralegal while advocating for those in need from all walks of life. Garson's character is still being fleshed out." Warner Bros. Television is behind the hour, which is based on a story by actor Willie Garson, who will co-executive produce. (Deadline.com)
CELEBRITY NAME GAME (Syndication) - FremantleMedia North America has pulled the plug on the game show after three seasons. "We've had a wonderful time producing 'Celebrity Name Game' and we are exceptionally proud of its three seasons in syndication," said Jennifer Mullin, Co-CEO of FremantleMedia North America. "While we are not renewing in syndication at this time, it is a format we believe in. We are thankful to our loyal audience, our celebrity guests, the incredibly talented Craig Ferguson, our partners at Debmar-Mercury and Coquette, and our crew - whose passion for this series has been unparalleled." DISJOINTED (Netflix) - Elizabeth Ho ("Melissa & Joey") has joined the cast of the Kathy Bates-led comedy. She'll play "one of the budtenders, a big-hearted, type-A overachiever trying to medicate herself back to normal," replacing the originally cast Jessica Lu. (Deadline.com)
GOOD GIRLS REVOLT (Amazon) - The streaming service has passed on a second season for the recently launched drama however producer TriStar Television plans to shop the series to other outlets. (Deadline.com)
HELLMART (The CW, New!) - Ben and Dan Newmark have set up a high-concept drama at the netlet about "a group of characters who live and work at Hellmart, a department store in hell's waiting room (a purgatory-like realm here on Earth). Each week, our group helps a recently deceased person fix their failures from life in the hope of getting sent to heaven." Grandma's House Entertainment and The Tannenbaum Company are behind the hour, which is set up at CBS Television Studios. Eric Tannenbaum and Kim Tannenbaum also serve as executive producers. MODERN FAMILY (ABC) - NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley and Los Angeles Clippers center DeAndre Jordan will appear as themselves on an upcoming episode featuring "a charity basketball game in which Phil (Ty Burrell) will play." Also bound in 2017 is Peyton Manning as Coach Gary, "a sports tutor hired by Gloria (Sofia Vergara) to teach baby Joe (Jeremy Maguire)." (EW.com)
SCHOOL OF ROCK (Nickelodeon) - The cable channel has picked up a supersized 20-episode third season of the popular musical comedy series based on the 2003 Paramount movie. (Deadline.com)
SWIMMING WITH SHARKS (E!, New!) - Kathleen Robertson is spearheading a small screen take on the 1994 feature, which will now revolve around "a young female assistant at a wildly competitive, struggling studio chock-full of manipulators and masters. Little do they know she is poised to outwit and outmaneuver them all." The film's co-star Kevin Spacey and his producing partner Dana Brunetti will also executive produce via their Trigger Street Productions banner for Lionsgate Television and Universal Cable Productions. UNTITLED ROBERT KELLY PROJECT (FX, New!) - Comedian Robert Kelly ("Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll") has sold a new autobiographical comedy series to the cable channel in which "Kelly's compulsive habits cause him to lose the things most important to him, which thrusts him into a journey to find happiness and purpose." Jim Serpico and Tom Sellitti will co-write the pilot alongside Kelly with Apostle's Denis Leary likewise executive producing for Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions. (Deadline.com)
WOODS, THE (Syfy, New!) - Boom! Studios is developing a TV series based on its comic book from James Tynion IV and Michael Dialynas in which "an entire high school campus - including the 300 students, teachers, parents and workers who happened to be there at the time - vanishes without a trace and reappears in the middle of the thick woods on the moon of a distant planet. Now their normal lives have suddenly and dramatically changed as they must survive the eerie and dangerous environment while desperately trying to find a way to get back home." Writer Michael Armbruster and director Brad Peyton (San Andreas) are behind the project, which comes from Universal Cable Productions. Jeff Fierson, Ross Richie and Stephen Christy will also executive produce with Josh Levy as a co-executive producer. (Deadline.com)
YOUR TIME IS UP (Lifetime, New!) - Christina Applegate is attached to star in a potential drama at the cable channel about "a disheveled psychologist who, in an attempt to get her life back together after a family tragedy, implements a unique approach to help her patients, inspired by her unconventional upbringing." Kathleen Robertson is penning the script to the Lionsgate Television-based project, which was set up last summer at the company. Gil Netter will also executive produce. (Deadline.com)
ZOO (CBS) - Gracie Dzienny has been promoted to series regular for the show's third season. She plays Clementine, "the lost daughter of deceased Mitch (Billy Burke) 10 years in the future." (Deadline.com)
