BRAVO MEDIA PRESENTS THE ORIGINAL HIP HOP EMPIRE IN "FIRST FAMILY OF HIP HOP" ALL NEW SERIES PREMIERES SUNDAY, JANUARY 15 AT 9PM ET/PT

NEW YORK, NY - December 8, 2016 - Bravo Media presents the family that started a music revolution in the new docuseries "First Family of Hip Hop," premiering Sunday, January 15 at 9pm ET/PT. The Robinsons rose to fame in the 1970's when they first put rap on the map with the famed Sugarhill Records, becoming a cultural phenomenon and changing the face of music forever. Now with a new generation rising up, brothers, sisters and cousins are all jostling for position to gain control of the famed label and to breathe new life into the Sugarhill legacy. For a sneak peek, please visit: http://www.bravotv.com/first-family-of-hip-hop/season-1/videos/this-season-on-first-family-of-hip-hop

Forty years after matriarch Sylvia was dubbed "The Mother of Hip Hop" for bringing rap into the mainstream, the next generation of Robinsons are working at the label and looking to make their own stamp on history in different ways. These voracious children, siblings, and cousins will search for the next big thing in music, help their artists develop a unique sound, and brainstorm ways to bring the label back into the public eye, all while trying to make the mark that will give them the keys to the kingdom. While some of the younger family members strive to live up to their legendary name, others are busy enjoying the perks that it brings. In an industry as cutthroat and competitive as music, Sugarhill Records is at a crossroads with its reputation on the line and millions of dollars at stake. Now, the Robinsons will discover just how far they are willing to go in order to stay one step ahead of other labels . . . and one another.
