CBS FRESHMAN COMEDIES (CBS) - The Eye has commissioned additional installments of its three freshman comedies: "Kevin Can Wait," bringing its season total to 24 episodes; and "The Great Indoors" and "Man With a Plan," both of which will now produce full 22 episode seasons. (Deadline.com)
JACK RYAN (Amazon) - Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game) has been tapped to helm the debut installment of the series, based on Tom Clancy's literary hero of the same name, to be played by John Krasinski. Additionally, Daniel Sackheim has signed on as the series' producer/in-house director. (Deadline.com)
MAN WITH A PLAN (CBS) - Valerie Harper and Stacy Keach have been cast as the parents of Matt LeBlanc's titular character, Adam Burns. They'll appear in at least two episodes. (TVLine.com)
ON BECOMING A GOD IN CENTRAL FLORIDA (AMC, New!) - Kirsten Dunst is set to star in a potential hour-long series at the cable channel about "the cult of free enterprise and one woman's relentless pursuit of the American Dream in the early '90s. Recently widowed and left with nothing, minimum-wage Orlando water park employee Krystal Gill (Dunst) lies, schemes and cons her way up the ranks of Founders American Merchandise - the cultish, flag-waving, multibillion-dollar pyramid scheme that drove her to ruin in the first place." Yorgos Lanthimos (The Lobster) will direct from a script by Robert Funke and Matt Lutsky with Smokehouse Pictures' George Clooney and Grant Heslov likewise executive producing for TriStar Television and AMC Studios. (Deadline.com)
ONCE UPON A TIME (ABC) - JoAnna Garcia Swisher will reprise her role as Ariel on an upcoming episode this season. Her character "was last seen helping Ursula (Merrin Dungey) get her happy ending by reuniting the sea witch with her father, Poseidon (Ernie Hudson), in season 4." (EW.com)
UNTITLED ALAN BALL PROJECT (HBO) - Sosie Bacon, Daniel Zovatto, Raymond Lee and Jerrika Hinton have all been cast in the Holly Hunter-led drama project: in which "philosophy professor Greg Bishop (not yet cast) and his lawyer wife Audrey Black (Hunter) are socially conscious idealists who decided to build a family by adopting children from Vietnam, Somalia and Colombia (Hinton, Zovatto, Lee) before having their own child in their 40s (Bacon). Then, one of the children begins to see things others cannot. Is it mental illness? Or something else?" Lee will play Duc, "a successful life coach, adopted from Vietnam when he was five"; with Hinton as Ashley, "creator and owner of a retail fashion website, wife and mother of a 4-year-old who was born in America to Somalian refugees, adopted when her mother died and her father was deported"; Zovatto as Ramon, "who was adopted from an orphanage in Colombia at 18 months and now is in his final year of college, studying video game design"; and Bacon plays Kristen, "the only biological child of her parents."
