ALL NEW EPISODES OF HIT DOCUMENTARY SERIES FROM BIG FISH ENTERTAINMENT TO AIR FRIDAYS AND SATURDAYS AT 9PM ET/PT
New York, NY - September 26, 2017 - A&E Network's hit documentary series "Live PD," the #1 unscripted crime series in 2017*, returns for season two on October 6. The new episodes, produced by Big Fish Entertainment, will air every Friday and Saturday night from 9pm-12am ET/PT.
Hosted by Dan Abrams with analysis from Tom Morris Jr., "Live PD" showcases the policing of America, following diverse police departments from across the country in real time as they patrol their communities. Using dash cams along with fixed rig and handheld cameras, the series captures the work of a varied mix of urban and rural police forces on a typical Friday and Saturday night. Abrams and Morris guide viewers over the three-hour timeslot giving insight to what audiences are seeing in real time. "Live PD" also features Sean "Sticks" Larson from the Tulsa Police Department Gang Unit, as well as law enforcement officers from the series who appear in-studio as guest analysts to provide additional commentary.
Among the law enforcement agencies participating in season two are the Richland County Sheriff's Office (SC), the Jeffersonville Police Department (IN), the Utah Department of Public Safety, the Spokane County Sheriff's Office (WA), the Lake County Sheriff's Office (IL), the Pasco County Sheriff's Office (FL), and many more.
A&E recently announced a 100-episode order from Big Fish, taking the series to next summer.
"Live PD" is the top real-life unscripted crime series year-to-date and ranks as the top unscripted program this summer on cable with adults 25-54. Season one premieres of "Live PD" averaged 1.6 million total viewers in Live+7 viewing, with the series hitting high of 2.4 million total viewers on July 15. Viewership increased 136% from launch, and the series more than doubled the A&E year-ago time period.**
A&E experienced its sixth consecutive month of growth in August among total viewers, driven by the success of the original series "Live PD," "Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath," "60 Days In" and "The Murder of Laci Peterson." For the month of August, A&E ranked as the #5 network on ad-supported cable amongst adults 25-54; #6 for adults 18-49 and #9 with total viewers. Additionally, A&E is expected to earn audience growth in third quarter across all key adult demos, the second sequential quarter of improvement.***
"People across the country are hungry for transparency with law enforcement and 'Live PD' delivers on that promise. The series has truly resonated with our audience and we are thrilled to be returning in October for season two," said Elaine Frontain Bryant, Executive Vice President & Head of Programming, A&E.
Added Big Fish Entertainment President, Dan Cesareo, "We've just scratched the surface of the type of access Live PD can provide. We're excited to continue offering A&E's audience a completely new and fresh viewing experience this season."
