BOYS, THE (Amazon) - Erin Moriarty is the first to be cast in the comic book-turned-TV series as Starlight aka Annie, "a young woman with superhero powers who can make lightning bolts flash from her eyes. Her dream is to be a real superhero like the famous Seven." (Deadline.com)
CLIMB, THE/LOVE YOU MORE/SEA OAK (Amazon) - The streaming service has passed on series orders for all three comedy pilots, which were made available last month. (Deadline.com)
DIRK GENTLY'S HOLISTIC DETECTIVE AGENCY (BBC America) - Creator Max Landis took to social media with the news the series will not return for a third season. (@Uptomyknees)
HIM OR HER (HBO, New!) - Travon Free ("Full Frontal with Samantha Bee") has sold a single-camera comedy to the pay channel which "chronicles the dating life of a bisexual black man and the distinctly different worlds and relationships he finds himself in." Issa Rae and Deniese Davis will also executive produce for 3 Arts Entertainment and Rae's ColorCreative banner. (Deadline.com)
NEW GIRL (FOX) - J.B. Smoove has been cast as Winston's (Lamorne Morris) father on the show's final season, in an episode to be directed by Morris himself. (TVLine.com)
OFFICE, THE (NBC) - The Peacock is reportedly in talks for a revival of the workplace comedy for the 2018-2019 season. Said effort "would once again be set at Dunder Mifflin's Scranton, PA., branch, and feature a mix of new and old cast members." Steve Carell however will not be involved in the new series. ORIGINALS, THE (The CW) - Jaime Murray is bound for the show's final season as Antoinette, "a beautiful, old-school vampire who meets Elijah shortly after he loses his memories. Her flirtatious, free-spirited nature masks dark secrets about her painful past." (TVLine.com)
SWEET LIFE (HBO, New!) - Issa Rae ("Insecure") and Raamla Mohamed ("Scandal") are set to team for a new drama at the pay channel "set in the Black Beverly Hills of Windsor Hills" and billed as "a coming of age tale of the well-heeled teens growing up in the LA neighborhood." 3 Arts Entertainment and Rae's ColorCreative banner are producing. TRADE, THE (Showtime) - Warrior Poets, the production company founded by Morgan Spurlock and Jeremy Chilnick, has been cut from the upcoming series. Spurlock had previously dropped following his public admission of sexual misconduct. That now extends to his company as well with Our Time Projects now the sole producer. (Deadline.com)
