AMERICAN GODS (Starz) - Sakina Jaffrey is set to recur on the upcoming second season as Mama-Ji: "Now a waitress at the Motel America, Mama-Ji is a Hindu goddess of war. With her necklace of skulls, acerbic wit and free spirit, she's a match for any mighty god or man." Producers are also casting for a First Nation/Native American female to play Sam Blackcrow: "She's confident, engaging, headstrong, and has a free spirit personality." (Deadline.com)
BROOKLYN NINE-NINE (FOX) - Hulu, TBS, NBC and Netflix are reportedly among the potential new homes for the just-axed comedy. Said report notes that Hulu is home to "Nine-Nine's" SVOD deal; TBS is likewise the destination for its off-network run (and its president, Kevin Reilly, originally developed the series while at FOX); and NBC is a sibling to producer Universal Television. EXPANSE, THE (Syfy) - The cable channel is parting ways with the Alcon Television Group series after three seasons. "'The Expanse' transported us across the solar system for three brilliant seasons of television," said Chris McCumber. "Everyone at Syfy is a massive fan of the series, and this was an incredibly difficult decision. We want to sincerely thank The Expanse's amazing cast, crew and all the dedicated creatives who helped bring James S.A. Corey's story to life. And to the series' loyal fans, we thank you most of all." Added Alcon's Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson, who plan to shop the series to other buyers: "We are very disappointed the show will not be returning to Syfy. We respect Syfy's decision to end this partnership but given the commercial and critical success of the show, we fully plan to pursue other opportunities for this terrific and original IP."
