CALLS (Apple, New!) - A domestic take on Timothée Hochet's French short-form series - which "takes storytelling innovation to the next level, allowing audiences to experience short stories through real-life audio sources and minimal visuals" - has been given a 10-episode order by the company. Canal+ is behind the project, Apple's first greenlighted international series and its first international co-production. No other auspices were given. Apple has also acquired the rights to the existing season of the original French series. (Deadline.com)
GOOD DOCTOR, THE (ABC) - Lisa Edelstein is set to recur on the show's sophomore run as Dr. Blaize, "an expert oncologist who has returned to the hospital after a brief suspension, at the request of Dr. Aaron Glassman (Richard Schiff), to help treat his cancer. Dr. Blaize is quite comfortable going toe to toe with Glassman and isn't afraid to have a little fun while letting him know she calls the shots." (Deadline.com)
GOOD OMENS (Amazon) - David Morrissey has been tapped to play Captain Vincent on the upcoming six-part humorous fantasy drama. (@drmuig)
INTO THE BADLANDS (AMC) - Co-executive producer LaToya Morgan has inked a new, multi-year overall deal with the network. The pact calls for her to develop new series projects as well as supervise and mentor diverse emerging writers for development. (Deadline.com)
PINKY MALINKY (Netflix) - The Nickelodeon Animation Studios-produced series, which follows the everyday life of an infectiously positive hot dog living in a human world, will head to the streaming service later this summer in lieu of its sister linear network. (Deadline.com)
