BRIARPATCH (USA) - Rosario Dawson has signed on for the lead role in the Sam Esmail-produced drama pilot, about Allegra Dill, a dogged investigator returning to her border-town Texas home after her sister is murdered by a car bomb. What begins as a search for a killer turns into an all-consuming fight to bring the corrupt hometown Allegra thought she left behind to its knees. She'll also receive an executive producer credit on the project. (Deadline.com)
DRAGON PRINCE, THE (Netflix, New!) - Aaron Ehasz ("Avatar: The Last Airbender") has booked a new animated series at the streaming service about "two human princes who forge an unlikely bond with the elfin assassin sent to kill them, embarking on an epic quest to bring peace to their warring lands." EMPIRE (FOX) - Felicia D. Henderson will join the series as a consulting producer for its fifth season as part of a multiyear, multimillion-dollar overall deal with 20th Century Fox Television. (THR.com)
HOW THE OTHER HALF HAMPTONS (Freeform, New!) - Jasmin Rosemberg's book - which "explores the Hamptons sharehouse, an annual ritual with a camp-like culture that scores of Manhattan twentysomethings take part in every summer" - is being developed as a drama series at the cable channel. Kapital Entertainment's Aaron Kaplan and Dana Honor and Milojo Productions' Kelly Ripa, Mark Consuelos and Albert Bianchini are executive producing the project, which has not named a writer. FOX and 20th Century Fox TV previously took a stab at a small screen take in 2010 with writer Brian Buckner at the helm. (Deadline.com)
ONE DAY AT A TIME (Netflix) - Stephanie Beatriz and Melissa Fumero will both drop by the upcoming season as "Penelope's cousin Pilar, whom Elena is convinced is gay"; and Estrellita, "who used to be close to her cousin Penelope before the rift between Lydia and Estrellita's mom (Gloria Estefan) drove them apart," respectively. QUANTUM & WOODY (TBS, New!) - Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari (Marvel's Ant-Man and the Wasp) are spearheading a small screen take on the Valiant Comics duo, a "pair are adoptive brothers who come together, after years of estrangement, by the mysterious death of their father. In the course of investigating, they are accidentally imbued with powers." Dan Mintz, Mike Larocca, Anthony Russo and Joe Russo are also executive producing the DMG Entertainment-based project via the latter's AGBO banner. (Deadline.com)
SANTA CLARITA DIET (Netflix) - Stephen Full will recur on the show's third season as Janko, "a suspicious desk clerk at the Serbian Consulate." (TVLine.com)
SEE (Apple) - Jason Momoa (Aquaman) has scored the lead role on the eight-episode drama, "set in a future when the human race has lost the sense of sight, and society has had to find new ways to interact, to build, to hunt, to survive. All of that is challenged when a set of twins with sight is born." He will play Baba Voss, "a fearless warrior, leader and guardian." (Deadline.com)
TELL ME A STORY (CBSAA) - Davi Santos will recur on the upcoming psychological thriller as Gabe, "a damaged and vulnerable young man with abandonment issues. When his sister Hannah (Dania Ramirez), his only family, enlisted in the Army, Gabe found himself lost in a lifestyle filled with sex and drugs in an attempt to shut out his reality. But when he finds himself in an irrevocable situation, he turns to his sister for help and they both embark on a deadly chase for survival." (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED RUPAUL PROJECT (Syndication, New!) - RuPaul is set to film a talk show pilot for Telepictures, featuring "the host bringing his unique, positive and aspirational point of view to the format, interviewing celebrities, giving beauty and glam tips, playing games, and dishing on pop culture." Michelle Visage is also expected to be part of the project, which is targeted for a fall 2019 launch. No other auspices were given. (Variety.com)
