truTV Announces Pilot Order for Weekly Comedic Awards Show from Vulture

Vulture's First Television Project Puts New Twist on Unscripted Format

Turner's truTV has announced a pilot order for an unscripted project from Vulture, the go-to entertainment news site for the culturally obsessed, which would mark the first-ever televised project for the digital publisher. The untitled project is a new, weekly comedic awards show honoring the most deserving stories from the week in pop culture.

Every week, two dynamic hosts serve as the masters of ceremonies, handing out awards to the people, places and things everyone can't stop talking about. Each episode will include clever takes on the traditional award show tropes that everyone loves - and loves to make fun of - from musical numbers to seat fillers to playoff music to in-memoriam packages. The pilot is being produced internally at truTV and casting is currently underway for the series' hosts.

Attached to the project are executive producers Pam Wasserstein and David Haskell from Vulture's parent company New York Media, truTV's senior vice president of original programming and development Lesley Goldman and vice president of original programming and development Bryan Terry, and Jo Honig ("The Rundown with Robin Thede"). Vulture editor Neil Janowitz and senior editor Jesse David Fox serve as consulting producers.

"We're all big fans of Vulture and consider them the undisputed authority on pop culture and comedy. They put a clever, comedic twist on everything they do, so we're excited to partner with them on this show and bring that unique point of view to TV," said Marissa Ronca, executive vice president of development and original programming for truTV.

"truTV has emerged as an important destination for entertainment programming, and we're excited to partner and bring Vulture's voice to their audience," said Wasserstein, New York Media's CEO.

The unscripted pilot marks the latest project in development for truTV's growing comedy slate which includes the Emmy(R)-nominated variety sketch series At Home with Amy Sedaris, scripted series I'm Sorry, Adam Ruins Everything, Bobcat Goldthwait's Misfits & Monsters and Those Who Can't, as well as unscripted and hybrid series Paid Off with Michael Torpey, Jon Glaser Loves Gear, The Chris Gethard Show, Laff Mobb's Laff Tracks, and more, including Impractical Jokers, the #1 cable comedy in prime among A18-34.
