NAACP Unveils Nominees for the 50th NAACP Image Awards, Airing Live on TV One from Hollywood's Dolby Theater on Saturday, March 30

Pasadena, CA - February 15, 2019 - This Wednesday, at the Television Critics Association's Winter Press Tour, TV One presented its premiere 2019 programming lineup for the cable network and its recently launched digital network, CLEO TV. Kicking off the morning, the nominees for the NAACP Image Awards 50th Anniversary show were announced by the President of the NAACP, Derrick Johnson, Logan Browning (Dear White People) and Winston Duke (Black Panther). Netflix led the nominations in the Television categories with 22 nominations and had 4 film nominations followed by HBO and ABC with 20 and 18 respectively. Marvel led the motion picture category with 13 nominations followed by Annapurna with 11 nominations. In the recording categories, RCA leads with 11 nominations followed by Interscope with 8 nominations and Atria led the literary category with 4 nominations. The NAACP Image Awards will air on TV One live from the Dolby Theater in Hollywood Saturday, March 30 at 9 p.m. ET/8 CT.

Actor and REACH Media syndicated radio personality D.L. Hughley introduced his new primetime talk show, THE D.L. HUGHLEY SHOW, set to premiere in March, featuring stories relevant to a rapidly evolving African American community.

Additionally, the session also highlighted the edgy autobiographical hit series UNCENSORED, premiering Monday, March 4 at 10 p.m. ET, and presenting first person accounts of today's most notable personalities, including Tasha Smith. TV One also unveiled a new slate of original movies set to debut later this year, including THE BOBBY DEBARGE STORY and LOVED TO DEATH.

Recently launched lifestyle and entertainment network targeting millennial and Gen X women of color, CLEO TV, introduced three new unscripted series including acooking show titled NEW SOUL KITCHEN with Chef Jernard Wells and Chef Porsche Thomas. CLEO TV's lifestyle series include LIVING BY DESIGN WITH JAKE AND JAZZ, a home redesign show with a culinary twist featuring sibling duo Jake and Jazz Smollett, and LENS OF CULTURE which is a short-form series hosted by world-travelers and influencers Tai Beauchamp and Elton Anderson. Dexter Cole, TV One Senior Vice President of Program Scheduling and Acquisitions, introduced the Daytime Emmy(R)-nominated "coming of adulthood" scripted series GIANTS that was created by actor, writer and director James Bland.

THE D.L. HUGHLEY TALK SHOW is a new talk show that dives head first into hot topics of the day and dishes on the latest news, entertainment, pop culture and what's trending in social media. Shot in a highly stylized studio, the look and feel of the show is patterned after a traditional radio show, adapted for television. Always insightful and informative, D.L. and his co-host Jasmine Sanders use humor to deliver everything from hard news to lighter fare. The movie explores the life of Bobby DeBarge, the former lead singer of the 70's R&B/Funk Band Switch. The eldest sibling of the world-famous pop group DeBarge found his life in peril as he struggled with fame and fortune while coping with the memories of his dysfunctional childhood. The film is slated to debut in June 2019. THE BOBBY DEBARGE STORY is produced for TV One by Swirl Films. Eric Tomosunas and Teri Debarge are Executive Producers. LOVED TO DEATH

Inspired by TV One's true crime programming, LOVED TO DEATH follows a newly engaged couple whose lives are cut short when they are suddenly gunned down by a crazed gunman at a toll booth. Upon meeting and falling in love with Chuck Everette, Deborah Ross leaves a long term abusive relationship with Nathan Burris to be with him. Just as their life is about to start, the two are suddenly gunned down at Deborah's job as a toll booth operator. LOVED TO DEATH is produced for TV One by Asylum and written by Chad Quinn. David Rimawi is the Executive Producer and David Michael Latt is Producer. The film is directed by Lee Davis with Scotty Mullen as Casting Director.
