LINCOLN LAWYER, THE (CBS, New!) - David E. Kelley is spearheading a small screen take on Michael Connelly's series of bestselling novels, about Mickey Haller, "an iconoclastic idealist, who runs his law practice out of the back of his Lincoln Town Car, as he takes on cases big and small across the expansive city of Los Angeles." A+E Studios and CBS Television Studios are behind the hour, which has a series production commitment. Connelly and Ross Fineman will likewise executive produce. Matthew McConaughey toplined the project's feature incarnation in 2011 while ABC took a stab at a TV take that same year from the film's screenwriter John Romano. (Deadline.com)
MAPLEWORTH MURDERS (Quibi, New!) - Paula Pell and John Lutz are set to team for a comedic murder mystery series on the short-form video platform, about Abigail Mapleworth (Pell), "a murder-mystery writer who solves homicides in her quaint small town of New Woodstream." Lutz, who is penning the project with Pell, will also be featured in an unspecified role. Universal Television is behind the project with Broadway Video Television's Lorne Michaels and Andrew Singer and Sethmaker Shoemeyers Productions' Seth Meyers and Mike Shoemaker also executive producing. Hilary Marx and Jason Carden co-executive produce. (Deadline.com)
MRS. AMERICA (FX) - Newcomer Bria Henderson has been tapped for a role on the Cate Blanchett/Elizabeth Banks-led limited series as Ms. Magazine editor Margaret Sloan, "an outspoken, funny, radical-thinking African American feminist and civil rights activist who marched with MLK. An out lesbian, single mother and accomplished poet, she was an intersectional trailblazer in several cultural and political movements." (Deadline.com)
P-VALLEY (Starz) - Thomas Q. Jones has scored a recurring role on the newcomer as Mane, "a round-the-way dude who's always got a couple of scams cooking. He's gorgeous, sly, charming, and country to the core. " (Deadline.com)
RUN THE WORLD (Starz, New!) - Leigh Davenport has set up a potential comedy at the pay channel about "a group of black, vibrant, fiercely loyal best friends who live, work and play in Harlem as they strive for world domination." Lionsgate Television is behind the half-hour with the studio-based Yvette Lee Bowser also set to executive produce. (THR.com)
