AWARD-WINNING REPORTER LAURIE SEGALL NAMED CORRESPONDENT FOR "60 IN 6," THE NEW "60 MINUTES" PROGRAM TO LAUNCH ON QUIBI

Laurie Segall has been named correspondent for the new 60 MINUTES Quibi program 60 IN 6, 60 MINUTES Executive Producer Bill Owens announced today.

The award-winning journalist first gained notoriety by identifying and interviewing founders of disruptive tech companies and examining their impact on society. Segall's insightful reporting interprets a future where technology is redefining what it means to be human.

Most recently, Segall founded Dot Dot Dot, a news and entertainment company that explores the intersection of tech and humanity. Previously, she was CNN's senior technology correspondent and the editor-at-large for CNN Tech.

"Laurie gives us an instant advantage on one of the most important beats of our time," said Owens. "She is a font of ideas and brings a unique voice and experience to 60 IN 6 and CBS News."

Segall said, "We're in a really fascinating moment in tech, and I think it's important that we ask questions that don't have easy answers. I couldn't be more excited to explore some of these stories with the 60 MINUTES team. As someone who has covered technology for most of my career, I'm excited to be combining world-class journalism with an emerging platform like Quibi."

Segall, 34, is a veteran in digital short-form reporting. She is the host of the recently launched podcast "First Contact," produced by her media company, Dot Dot Dot. She will continue in her roles as CEO and executive producer at Dot Dot Dot, while serving as a 60 IN 6 correspondent, and will make regular appearances on CBS THIS MORNING.

Segall spent a decade covering technology at CNN before leaving to form Dot Dot Dot. She reported for all CNN platforms and was recognized early when Forbes named her to the magazine's "30 Under 30" list at age 26. In 2017 Segall produced and reported the first series made for CNN Digital's online streaming platform CNNgo. Her "Mostly Human with Laurie Segall" series was dubbed "the real-life 'Black Mirror.'" Two years before, she won a Gracie for "Revenge Porn: The Cyberwar on Women," which aired across CNN platforms. Her work championing women has also won several EPPY Awards. Segall has covered the rise of the world's largest tech companies, and her reporting has earned her the respect of Silicon Valley's leading entrepreneurs. She has interviewed leaders like Mark Zuckerberg, Tim Cook, Sheryl Sandberg, Jack Dorsey and Bill Gates.

Segall joined the cable network out of college and soon began writing for CNN Money and gained experience field producing breaking news for Hurricanes Sandy and Irene. She has consistently used technology to investigate national news stories. During the Boston Marathon bombing, she reconstructed Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's deleted Instagram account. And later, she tracked down an exclusive interview with Cleveland kidnapper Ariel Castro's daughter.

She is the third correspondent to be named to 60 IN 6. She joins Enrique Acevedo and Wesley Lowery in the dedicated unit that will produce a weekly program of approximately six minutes per episode. The original 60 MINUTES content will run exclusively on Quibi and be targeted to its audience of mobile device users.
