Network Releases New Line of Duty Series Trailer and Key Art
New York, NY - March 12, 2020 - In the pursuit of corruption, how far will they go to uncover the truth? AMC answers that question with the network premiere of the first three seasons of Acorn TV's hit British police drama Line of Duty beginning Saturday, April 4 at 10pm/9c. Set in the fictional police anti-corruption unit AC-12, Line of Duty is a cat-and-mouse thriller that takes a probing look into modern policing and corruption. Each season of the drama features an all-star cast including Lennie James (Fear the Walking Dead) in season one, as well as series stars Martin Compston (Sweet Sixteen), Vicky McClure (This is England), Adrian Dunbar (Ashes to Ashes), Neil Morrissey (Men Behaving Badly) and Gina McKee (Notting Hill).
"A cop show that defies all the rules, a character piece that has you on the edge of your seat, Line of Duty is a white-knuckle ride of such intensity that it's only when you stop for breath that you realize how clever and complex the whole thing is," said Sarah Barnett, president of AMC Networks' Entertainment Group and AMC Studios. "This is the latest example of how we're using smart show sharing within our ecosystem of audiences and brands at AMC Networks, fueled by the enormous success we enjoyed last year when putting Killing Eve on AMC as well as BBC America, which drove the highest season-over-season growth of any cable drama in six years."
Line of Duty is written by Jed Mercurio (Bodyguard, Critical), and produced by World Productions for BBC Two. Mercurio, Simon Heath (The Great Train Robbery, The Bletchley Circle) and Stephen Wright serve as executive producers.
A schedule for the Line of Duty three-season marathon (one-hour episodes) airing over consecutive Saturday nights is as follows:
Line of Duty Season 1 Premieres Saturday, April 4 at 10pm/9c
Run by zealous Superintendent Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar), AC-12's target is the gifted, charismatic Detective Chief Inspector Tony Gates (Lennie James), whose unit returns the best crime figures on the force. Gates appears to be an exemplary police officer and hard-working family man, but Hastings is convinced Gates' results are too good to be true. Determined to expose Gates as a fraud or worse, Hastings recruits Detective Sergeant Steve Arnott (Martin Compston) to the unit. Meanwhile, fascinated by Gates but for very different reasons, an ambitious young Detective Constable, Kate Fleming (Vicky McClure), coaxes herself onto his unit, teaming up with Gates' loyal lieutenants, Detective Sergeant Matthew "Dot" Cottan (Craig Parkinson) and Detective Constable Nigel Morton (Neil Morrissey). And, as if being under investigation isn't enough of a complication for Gates, he's also trying to hide an affair with an old flame (Gina McKee). Every time Gates seems cornered, he finds a way to turn the tables. But all the while he's digging a bigger hole for himself, plunging irrevocably into a moral abyss. And as the stakes get higher, soon it isn't just careers on the line - it's lives.
Line of Duty Season 2 Premieres Saturday, May 9 at 10pm/9c
This season features a new police corruption story told over six one-hour episodes - opening explosively with the ambush of a police convoy in which three police officers are killed and a protected witness is seriously injured. The sole surviving police officer is Detective Inspector Lindsay Denton (Keeley Hawes).
Deputy Chief Constable Mike Dryden (Mark Bonnar) takes personal charge, assigning AC-12 to the case. Detective Sergeant Steve Arnott, Detective Constable Kate Fleming and Superintendent Ted Hastings are joined by newly-appointed Detective Constable Georgia Trotman (Jessica Raine) to investigate a complex case rich in unexpected twists and turns. Initially AC-12's most valuable witness, the suspicion soon arises that DI Denton could be their prime suspect.
Line of Duty Season 3 Premieres Saturday, June 20 at 10pm/9c
The riveting six-episode third season of British police thriller takes another probing look at modern policing and corruption within the force as Daniel Mays (Mrs Biggs, Common, Public Enemies) plays Sergeant Danny Waldron, the highly proficient leader of an Armed Response Unit whose unpredictable behavior is becoming a threat to colleagues and suspects. When AC-12 are called in to investigate Danny's conduct, even they could find themselves in the firing line. Mays joins returning cast Martin Compston as DS Steve Arnott, Vicky McClure as DC Kate Fleming and Adrian Dunbar as Superintendent Ted Hastings. This season also stars Will Mellor (Broadchurch, The Street), Asher Ali (The Missing, Complicit), Leanne Best (Ripper Street, Fortitude).
