HELLRAISER (HBO, New!) - Director David Gordon Green and writers Mark Verheiden and Michael Dougherty are set to team for a small screen take on the horror film franchise at the pay channel, about Pinhead, "the iconic pincushion-domed villain who heads a group of pasty-faced villains sent from hell, known as the Cenobites." Farah Films, Vertigo Entertainment, Panacea Entertainment and Rough House Pictures are all behind the project, billed as "an elevated continuation and expansion of the well-established Hellraiser mythology," with Dan Farah, Roy Lee, Lawrence Kuppin, David Salzman, Eric Gardner, Danny McBride, Jody Hill and Brandon James likewise executive producing and Andrew Farah and Adam Salzman as co-executive producers. (Deadline.com)
INVINCIBLE (Amazon) - Steven Yeun, who voices the title character in the upcoming animated series, has signed a first-look deal with Amazon Studios. The pact will give the company first crack at his producing output. (Deadline.com)
NONE OF THE ABOVE (Freeform, New!) - Kenny Smith has scored a pilot order from the cable channel for a single-camera comedy about "two friends post-college who find their transition into the "real" world messy because they don't quite conform to expectations. Cannon's a black guy who loves things like indie-folk and foreign films, just as much as he loves hip-hop and both Michael Jordans. Valencia's a devout Christian with a budding career guiding children in the school system and is also a big fan of premarital sex, curse words and marijuana. The show tackles issues such as race, identity and sexual politics, as these two best friends lean on each other to stay true to who they are... or who they'll eventually become." ABC Studios and Tornante TV are co-producing. (Deadline.com)
TURN UP CHARLIE (Netflix) - The streaming service has passed on a second season for the Idris Elba-led comedy series. "Turn Up Charlie will not return for a second season," Netflix said in a statement. "We're especially grateful to star and executive producer Idris Elba, who turned his passion for DJing into a witty, heart-warming comedy series. We're also thankful to executive producers Gary Reich and Tristram Shapeero and co-executive producers Martin Joyce and Ana Garanito, along with the dedicated cast and crew, for bringing this story to life on Netflix. We look forward to continuing our relationship with Idris on future projects." (Deadline.com)
