"BUILDING GIANTS" RETURNS TO SCIENCE CHANNEL AND SHOWS HOW WORLD'S MOST IMPRESSIVE SUPERSTRUCTURES ARE BUILT AND OPERATE
An All-New Season of 'Building Giants' Premieres Wednesday, May 6, at 9 PM ET/PT on Science Channel
(LOS ANGELES) - How is it possible to dig brand-new subway lines under Los Angeles that are durable enough to withstand earthquakes and stop the buildings above from collapsing into the ground? And just how can engineers construct a 30-mile long bridge capable of withstanding the impact of a deadly typhoon? Science Channel's popular series BUILDING GIANTS returns for an all-new season, exploring the world's most advanced superstructures, on Wednesday, May 6, at 9 PM ET/PT.
In the premiere episode, BUILDING GIANTS will follow engineers as they race to build a city in northeast China made of snow and ice in a record-breaking 15 days. To accomplish this herculean task, they must use cutting-edge technology and the latest construction methods to turn 110,000 tons of ice into an extraordinary super city. To construct the ice city, the team must battle Arctic temperatures and dizzying heights. But how can science and technology help these engineers meet this monumental challenge?
BUILDING GIANTS will show viewers the latest cutting-edge technology and scientific methods being used in some of the world's most impressive superstructures. The series will also reveal the extraordinary innovations taking place in design and what it takes to construct them. Each episode is illustrated with CGI technology - along with expert commentary - giving viewers an inside look at how these superstructures work and what keeps them operating.
From the world's longest tunnels to the world's most advanced skyscraper, each hour-long episode charts the construction of a different epic project.
In addition to watching the series on Science Channel, viewers can check out new episodes each week by downloading the SCI GO app. Viewers can join the conversation on social media by using the hashtag #BuildingGiants and follow Science Channel on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for the latest updates.
