NETFLIX PRESENTS A NEW SWEDISH COMING OF AGE SERIES - Directed by critically acclaimed Rojda Sekersöz

July 8, 2020 - Love, friendship and heritage. Meet the privileged students at a prestigious Swedish boarding school trying to find their way in life, just like any other teenagers. The still untitled series is a new coming of age drama directed by Rojda Sekersöz, known from critically acclaimed Beyond Dreams and My life as a comedian. The six part series is created by Lisa Ambjörn (Sommaren -85 and White Wall), Lars Beckung (Tårtgeneralen) and Camilla Holter (Rinkside and Playmakers) and will be produced by Nexiko.

When Prince Wilhelm arrives at the prestigious boarding school he finally gets an opportunity to explore his true self and find out what kind of life he really wants. Wilhelm starts dreaming of a future filled with freedom and unconditional love far away from the royal obligations - but when he unexpectedly becomes next in line for the throne his dilemma is heightened as he has to make a choice. Love or duty.

I love digging into specific worlds and this is a very exciting world for me as a director to explore and shape. It feels super exciting, fun and powerful to also have the opportunity to give the world a broader picture of Sweden through Netflix. "

Lisa Ambjörn, script writer: When "Megxit" hit the UK, just months after Prince Carl Philip commented that his children now would have the opportunity to create their own future when the Swedish royal house narrowed down - I realized that we really put our finger on a burning hot topic. I am proud to be part of this brave team who doesn't shy away from a grand story of heritage, honor, class and tradition. Do we become the one we want to be or the one we are expected to be? With this coming of age drama, I want to challenge and entertain, and most importantly, take our young audience seriously.

The series is written by Lisa Ambjörn (head writer), Pia Gradvall, Sofie Forsman and Tove Forsman and will be produced by Lisa Berggren Eyre and Martin Söder at Nexiko. Lars Beckung serves as the executive producer.

The untitled series will launch globally on Netflix in 2021.
