AMERICAN AUTO (NBC) - Tye White, Michael Benjamin Washington, Jon Barinholtz and Humphrey Ker have all landed roles on the single-camera comedy pilot. White will play Jack, "an assembly line worker"; with Washington as Cyrus, "Chief Producer Designer at Payne Motors"; Barinholtz as Wesley, "the direct descendant of the company's founder"; and Ker as Elliot, "Chief Sales Officer at Payne Motors." BETTER THINGS (FX) - Pamela Adlon has signed a new overall deal with the show's producer FX Productions. There she'll continue on the series as well as develop new projects. (Deadline.com)
BOSSY (ABC) - Lucy Liu has signed on to star in the multi-camera comedy pilot, about Devin, "the fierce and powerful head of Shelter, a large and successful modern furniture company. She is a force and is unfamiliar with failure. But when Devin adopts a baby, she is ill-prepared for the task of parenting and feels at a complete loss as to how to be a mom." Liu will also receive a producing credit. (Deadline.com)
CARD SHARKS (ABC) - Production on the series resumed today "with minimal crew and without an audience and producer Fremantle has put in rigorous health and safety protocols." The game show joins "America's Got Talent" as the first major non-scripted entertainment series to return to filming. (Deadline.com)
CHINOS (HBO Max, New!) - Eddie Huang has scored a put pilot commitment from the streaming service for an animated series described as "an exploration of the subcultures in Los Angeles through the Asian American experience while flipping the "model minority" notion on its head." Acclaimed tattoo artist Dr. Woo and artist/animator Bernard Chang will also executive produce the project alongside Color Correct's Raf Martinez. No studio was indicated. (Deadline.com)
FAST COLOR/WILD SEED (Amazon) - Viola Davis and Julius Tennon's JuVee Productions has expanded its exclusive first-look deal with Amazon Studios to include television. The compamy already has the aforementioned projects in the works at the streaming service. (Deadline.com)
LA BRAVURA (Showtime, New!) - Tad Quill has sold a one-hour psychological thriller dramedy to the pay channel in which "when a husband does a behind-the-scenes documentary of his wife's elaborate heist at the Getty Museum, their marriage comes under strain." The project is set up at the Sony Pictures Television-based MiddKid Productions with the company's Shawn Ryan and Marney Hochman likewise executive producing. (Deadline.com)
SCENES FROM A MARRIAGE (HBO, New!) - Michelle Williams and Oscar Isaac are attached to star in a limited series adaptation of Ingmar Bergman's 1973 Swedish mini-series, which "re-examines the show's iconic depiction of love, hatred, desire, monogamy, marriage and divorce through the lens of a contemporary American couple, played by Isaac and Williams." Writer/director Hagai Levi is spearheading the project, with Williams, Isaac, Michael Ellenberg, Lars Blomgren, Daniel Bergman and Blair Breard also executive producing for Media Res and Endeavor Content. SWAGGER (Apple TV+) - Quvenzhané Wallis is set to star opposite O'Shea Jackson, Jr. in the basketball-themed drama series as Crystal, "a young, top female basketball player." (Deadline.com)
TOMIE (Quibi, New!) - Writer David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick and director Alexandre Aja have booked a small screen take on Junji Ito's cult hit horror manga series of the same name, billed as "the story of a beautiful high school girl who goes missing and pieces of her body are discovered scattered around a small town. But what starts out as a murder mystery turns into something even more horrific." Adeline Rudolph is already attached to play the title role. Sony Pictures Television and Universal Content Productions are co-producing with Hiroki Shirota as a co-producer. (Deadline.com)
